but, in a slighty more serious tone, making herself at home and comfortable has never been a high priority for her, and it shows. its livable. barely. as far as she’s concerned, there are more important things to worry about

☼ - appearance headcanon

(ive totally talked to you about this before on discord BUT)

the farm kept her hair shaved. it’s a lot less maintence and hassle, ,for missions, they’d just slap one of any number of wigs on her, consistently changing her appearance in a simple, but effective, low effort way. (idk, i feel like hair style/color can do a lot to make someone harder to recognize, but im notoriously bad at recognizing ppl, but like, it cant hurt right?)

it’s not until she’s escaped that she actually gets to try and grow it out, and find that she likes it

ൠ - random headcanon

the farm never taught her to fight, that would just be asking for trouble (she learned anyway of course, her handler’s quickly learned that her being a quick study was just as dangerous as it was advantageous)

but they did teach her to dance, ballet to be specific. it was a way to keep her in shape, as well as giving her awareness of her body and the space around her (not to mention, if people are too busy appreciating the way she moves, they arent looking at her face)

so, you can’t really turn off telepathy, you know? like you can block things out, put up shields, but it’s still there

except with ortega. irene literally CANT read his mind. and that is an unbelievable relief, he’s the one person she feels almost human around. it should make her nervous right? (and maybe on some level it does, but on the regular sort of nervouse, the “you have no idea what someone else is thinking” sort of nervous, the normal sort, everyone deals with that) it should leave her scrambling for any advantage, any tell. and yet… she can almost relax?

oh, but it does leave her…. unsteady… reaching for purchase amongst static. it leaves her raw and honest (if you can ever use that word with her) in strange and unsettling ways. it draws out a more human side of her, a more real side. she shouldn’t feel like this. it’s dangerous, to feel like this, in so. many. ways. (dangerous in that you might slip up, let out the truth, dangerous in that you might forget who you are, dangerous in that you might get delusions about what you can have, dangerous in that you can. be.)

she is logical and sound minded and she will always choose the smart choice… except it seems, when it comes to him. he unbalances her. makes her do the dumbest shit. that’s why she keeps flirting, that’s why she didnt run at the first hint of Feelings, that’s why she kissed him, that’s why she monologued at the museum, ortega has the unique ability to make her loose all sense

and that’s why she needs to keep him out of her life
