Celebrate St. Patrick's Day with a delicious twist on the classic grilled cheese sandwich. This hearty sandwich features corned beef, cabbage, Swiss cheese, and caraway seeds on rye bread, bringing the flavors of the traditional Irish dish to your plate.
Ingredients: 2 slices of rye bread. 2 slices of Swiss cheese. 2 slices of corned beef. 1/2 cup of cooked cabbage shredded. 2 tablespoons of butter. 1/4 teaspoon of caraway seeds. 1/4 teaspoon of Dijon mustard. Salt and pepper to taste.
Instructions: Spread butter on one side of each rye bread slice. Place a slice of Swiss cheese on the unbuttered side of one bread slice. Layer a slice of corned beef, shredded cabbage, and another slice of Swiss cheese on top of the cheese-covered bread slice. Sprinkle caraway seeds evenly on top of the cabbage. Spread Dijon mustard on the unbuttered side of the second bread slice and place it mustard-side down on top of the sandwich. Press the sandwich together gently. Heat a skillet over medium heat and add the remaining butter. Once the butter is melted and sizzling, carefully add the sandwich to the skillet. Cook for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted. Remove from the skillet and let it cool for a minute. Slice diagonally and serve hot. Enjoy your St. Patrick's Day Corned Beef and Cabbage Grilled Cheese on Rye!
