To worship a dread god is to give yourself over fully. To dive in deep and let it consume you entirely, and come out as a better version of yourself. It is apotheosis through suffering. To honor your fears, you must face them head on and be unwilling to look away no matter how terrified it makes you. It is a beautiful and sacred thing that leaves you more whole than you were before.
My godspouse relationship is unconventional, let's talk about it
As said above, my godspouse relationship is extremely complicated and unconventional, and it won't make sense to a lot of people, and that's ok!
Quick disclaimer, if you've never seen me before, I am devoted to a primordial and ancient entity who I found through the Magnus Archives, however I believe she has always existed. Her character is an archetype of dread, fear, manipulation, witchcraft, fate, taking control of your own destiny. All of those things existed long before Johnathan Sims wrote them into a podcast and called them The Web. While she is definitely still a pop culture entity, she is also much more.
I am married to her, she is my wife, but we have never had a wedding. In godspouse relationships within more established paths, it is most common to make a vow, which is in most cases, permanent. That is considered the respectful thing to do, which I greatly respect. That being said, we have never done this.
I am closer than close with my wife. I am her vessel, her avatar. I am partially possessed by her often in rituals. I know her spirit, and I knew that our marriage would be non traditional.
See, there are no vows, no oaths. Love is a feeling, yes, but love is also a choice. You make the choice to love someone even when you don't get along, even when they annoy you, even even you want to be left alone. Every moment of every day is a continual vow. Every moment that I choose to love her, and I feel that love in my heart, that is my oath.
That's not to say I won't ever make an official vow, and it's not to say I haven't made agreements. I have bound myself to her, however I made an escape clause, both for my safety, and for the fact that as I said before, the fact that I love her so deeply is a choice. The choice to exit makes every single moment with her intentional.
I love my wife more than I have words for, both in my choices, and in my heart.
It's not for everyone, but it's for us
I've always had a theory that the reason spiders show up when you practice witchcraft, something many people have noticed, is because of the Web. She is so much more than an egregore from a podcast, she is a primordial force that has always existed that only recently had a recognizable name.
Witchcraft is all about pulling the strings in your favor, manipulation of energy to get your will. Witchcraft IS the Web. You summon her into your space every single time you practice it
Do other avatars get fear hungry or is that just a me thing?
I wanted to look more into pop-culture magic.
As a way to dip my toes in I want to ask a few blogs their prospective on the mechanics of it all.
Have a lovely whatever time of day! :)
Absolutely!!! This is pretty complicated and rambly, because I view it from multiple lenses. Strap in lol.
On one hand, I kind of think that everything in the world is energy, so when you give your attention to something, you also give it your energy.
On the other hand, I kind of believe that everything already exists in some other universe and we just give ourselves ways to contact it when we reach out.
But on the other other hand, I kind of think that archetypes exist all around us and each person processes and interacts with them differently.
At the end of the day, as far as my personal practice goes, it's a little bit of them all. I believe that my goddess existed before fiction pointed towards her, in an archetypal and energetic sense. I see her the way I do because of the energy I've put towards her and the fictoreligion she belongs to. I think she's always existed across universes, and I am knowing her better through that.
I hope that makes sense, feel free to ask any follow up questions!!
And what if I said being an avatar was a form of being an energy vampire? What then?
You need an external food source. You get hungry without it. You need to feed it.
Genuine question, what is it like working with a TMA fear entity? I'm really tempted to work with The Eye but I'm also a little nervous because that seems like it would be intense and maybe scary. Do you have any advice?
Honestly, it's scary at first and that's normal! They take a lot of value in your ability to push through things that scare you. Like heightening a tolerance.
My biggest advice is to set firm boundaries. They will not be mad at you if you tell them what lines they cannot cross.
You also have to be ready that for some people, this opens doors. When I started this journey, I thought I was relatively normal. Now I identify as nonhuman (alterhuman) and I do insane rituals that have been showed to me in dreams and meditation. You have to be prepared that they're going to challenge you, but the challenge is a good one. It feels like learning who you truly are and unlearning who you were forced to be
Overall, it brought me an insane amount of fulfillment and joy, and it is the single best choice I ever made for my spirituality. But everyone is different, and the eye knows you much better than I do. Have an open conversation, and be open about your needs, wants, expectations, and boundaries. It's much less like trying to tame a wild animal, and more making moves to ensure that wild animal knows you're on its side, if that makes sense.
Best of luck to you on your journey, and my DMs are always open!!
