Sometimes I get asked to do a commission that is just really unique imo and this was one of them! Not only did I get to figure out how to illustrate how bad Splinter's karaoke skills are visually but I also got to draw all of the turtles plus Irma and April! I honestly hadn't even thought of Irma in probably 15 years lol. Through The Looking Glass

April glanced sharply at Irma. In her experience, no other city could be a greater mystery than New York these days, and she had plenty of photographic evidence herself to prove it. Of course, none of that evidence could fall into Irma’s hands—especially when half of the photos had her and Mikey flexing or striking poses in the background. “Really? I mean—Really. This city is totally… average.” She paused. ”Except for the, you know, alien invasion that one time! And, er, the giant… man-eating… rats. Heh.” 

Yikes. She was crashing more spectacularly than Donatello when he asked her to analyze sewage with him. Sometimes it was almost too much trouble trying to keep a bright (and giftedly nosy) girl like Irma off the scent. “I’m sure you’ll find something!” she chipped in eagerly with a sheepish shrug. “You’re good at digging stuff up.” Too good.

Irma sent April an odd look. What about New York was average? The red head was certainly acting strange. “Even without aliens and giant rats, New York is full of other mysteries,” Irma said matter of factly. “Of course, a lot of the stuff I hear seems pretty unbelievable, but that’s why I’m trying to uncover some of these secrets for my project. Like…” she wracked her brain for the odd rumors she’s heard. “The New York ninjas! I remember hearing about them on the news. There was also a kid in biology that swore he saw a giant bat flying around. There hasn’t been much, if any, evidence to support these rumors, but if they’re true I’ll find them.” 

She pulled a small compact digital camera from her pocket to prove her point. Ever since she began this project she made sure to have some sort of camera on her person at all times. When she didn’t want to carry around her larger, bulky camera, she would bring along the smaller one that fit neatly in her pocket. 

"Speaking of rumors, have you heard anything interesting?"

April's eyes darted uneasily between the camera and Irma's expectant face, and shrugging in what she hoped was her best nonchalant dismissal, she huffed, "Oh, you know, nothing but the normal, boring rumors that float around school. Brice cheating on Sarah. Oscar spiking the punch at the school dance. Stuff I try to distance myself from. Hey, speaking of distance, I think we're not far now. Isn't the Asian place a couple blocks from here?"

Trying her best to divert the subject to something a less pressing, April eyed the red crosswalk light with a little too much interest. A few yards away, an old building was being gutted and reconstructed, scaffolding supports shielding the pedestrians on the sidewalk below. Just as the crosswalk light changed, a small, magenta portal flashed into existence within the building, lighting the boarded interior with an unnatural, glowing haze like a lava lamp shining through a skeleton.
