much like janelle monae or david bowie, my character of the "iron lady" inspires me to move behind antiquated ideas of masculinity and femininity. it reminds me to adopt a rigidity in my manner, a hard interior (iron) behind my feminine and disarming appearance and style of dress (lady). it's a reminder that my political aspirations and the ambition that motivates them are not essentially masculine, as we have been led to believe.

a woman can do anything a man can. as a woman, I can start wars, promote neoliberalism, and uphold classism as well as any man. sometimes better.
