Just read a memoir of a WW2 German fighter pilot and damn it was educational. Seeing the defeated, fatalist mentality towards the end when they *knew* the war was lost but they were still getting these stupid and suicidal mission orders was part of it, but the real clincher was how they talked about desperately attacking American bombers to keep them from reaching the cities they were targeting (at this point bombing raids were basically of the wipe-out-city-indiscriminately variety) and the pilots would be so relieved and proud because shooting down B-17s was saving the lives of thousands of women and children and…they’re not wrong. We just never look at it that way.

For those who argue that the Germans started it and had been killing thousands of innocents already (true) and that this type of bombing was necessary (still debated today) it’s still worth considering the type of world where the solution to stopping the killing of women and children was killing more women and children.

Rest. Relax. Recharge. Go take that nap. Go pet your dog and fall asleep while listening to their breathing. Go put your feet up and lean back into your chair or couch and read a fun book that has nothing to do with your practice or improving your life. Go rest. Go relax. Go recharge and then do whatever it is you want to do when your battery is full. 🤍
