I really really like Julia’s clothing and what it says about her character
This outfit must be absurdly expensive. For basically most of human history purple dye was only accessible to the extremely wealthy, so that alone puts her in ‘fuck you’ money territory, but adding all the embellishments, the painted and embroidered details, the amount of layers, the fact that the bodice, the sleeves, the boots and the neckline all fit her perfectly? That’s just ridiculous. This is a dress that you could only dream of being wealthy enough to have.
And she’s tied the skirt into a giant knot.
Because she’s not really nobility anymore. She’s a working woman who needs to move around the monster infested mountains efficiently. The fabric she’s covered in shows where she came from, while the way she wears it shows where she is now. I have a personal hc that the dress used to have some great big train or other excess of fabric but she cut it up and used it to make her jacket, because she doesn’t have much and she needs to be resourceful (it’s easy to hide a messy hem behind a big knot)
Little details like this and the state of her house/shop (very rich in contents but completely disorganized and borderline hazardous) really add a lot of depth to Julia and I love digging into them, there’s so so much to her beneath the surface
