Cloud Strife fans don't have to justify why he is superior to Sephiroth.
Sephy fans have to justify why we should even begin to take them seriously.
The little pearl in the bubble
For context regarding my last post. Got some people crashing out in my DMs over the following statement:
Sefikura isn't trash because it's yaoi (toxic or otherwise) or because it's a hero x villain pairing (most of which are merely cheesy and ridiculous). It's trash because it attempts to discard the entire meaning of the story in favour of a facile, meaningless non-interpretation cobbled together from clichéd, moth-eaten seme/uke dynamics lifted from a million generic yaoi mangas. It's pure regression of storytelling.
It's trash because it's founded on outright lies about the two characters and their dynamic (Cloud = weak dork, Sephy = strong and cool, etc.) It pretends that Sephiroth is some ridiculous, unstoppable gigachad, and not the weak, egotistical, utterly deluded loser that the story very clearly demonstrates he is.
Cloud Strife is an incredible badass, made even more so by his very human struggles, his flaws, and yes, his more sensitive side that he tries to hide from others. All of that only adds up to make him and his martial achievements even more incredible and worthy of acclaim. Sfk fans, on the other hand, would have you believe that he is little more than a feckless loser because he is socially awkward sometimes. What a wretched fandom.
And what of Sephiroth, Shinra's golden boy war criminal? His most famous scenes involve stabbing an unarmed woman in the back and burning some sleeping civilians (presumably including children) to death. What is that, if not cowardice? He blames others for all of his problems, flexes about killing defenseless women (Aerith, Claudia), and fixates on petty revenge, which he continually fails to achieve. What is that, if not loser behaviour?
It's trash because its acolytes believe that a man with near god-like powers who keeps getting his ass repeatedly handed to him by a normie human is "dominant". I don't know what level of brain damage you'd have to suffer in order to fall for that kind of nonsense.
It's trash because it buys wholesale into the villain's obviously false worldview as if it had any validity, when in truth it's nothing more than Sephy's copium over being humiliated by Cloud Strife time and again, which in turn makes him look even more pathetic than he already is.
It's trash because it exalts a character who deserves nothing but derision while scorning a character who should be revered.
In short, it's trash because it takes a great narrative and hollows out everything good about it, turning it into cliché-ridden slop.
None of this would be a problem if it simply stayed in its lane and people admitted that it's nothing more than fanon created for entertainment purposes, but I've had multiple fans try to convince me that it is a valid CANONICAL interpretation of these characters, and that's where people who actually care about this story and its meaning have to draw the line.
if we lived in the mha universe and our society was effected by quirks and heros and all that, tr*mp would try to act like he’s a hero, the best hero, and hero killer stain would get him
NGL Gulf of America just looks nasty. 🤮
Gulf of Mexico on the other hand ☺️
