Respectfully, I have to disagree. I think dom Cloud is a million times hotter, especially if the other character is being haughty and thinks they're going to easily dominate him, only to watch him wrest control from them. But I digress…
Besides which, I believe that being dominant is truer to his underlying character than being submissive. Don't believe me? Watch Advent Children again and pay close attention to the Healin Lodge scene. Note the way Cloud instantly shuts down Reno and Rude when they try to attack him. That's pure dom body language. Same with when he's standing over a defeated Kadaj during the last part of the movie, giving him a smug look that says "did you really think you had a chance at beating me?"
So yeah. The idea of Cloud somehow being inherently submissive is just absurd to me. I could go on for several pages about this.
I'm not saying all this to knock your preference. Your request seems to be coming from a place of genuine appreciation, unlike most of the fandom here on Tumblr. A part of the problem is that they conflate being awkward, indecisive or inexperienced with being inherently submissive in nature. (Sefikura shippers are especially insufferable about this. Of course, they usually leave out the fact that Sephiroth's attempts to control or dominate Cloud always end in failure.)
I have to wonder, do you genuinely feel that there is some dearth of sub/inexperienced Cloud content? Given that much of the fandom here on Tumblr seems to be laboring under the illusion that he is inherently and irrevocably submissive, you'd think that type of content would be easy to find. If anything, dom Cloud stuff is rarer in my experience. Which brings me to another pet peeve of mine: The false dichotomy of it all. Everything needs to be framed in terms of dom/sub, ignoring the existence of switches entirely (most people in the FFVII fandom don't even seem to know what a switch is). But that's a MUCH longer discussion.
The very core of Cloud's personality, the essence of his being, is defiance. He's the scrappy teen who stood up to the world's greatest super-soldier and won, thereby averting armageddon. Then he defeated Sephiroth after he'd ascended to near-godhood while relying on nothing more than janky SOLDIER upgrades. To characterize him as "weak" or "submissive" is, to me, the height of absurdity. But the Tumblr section of the FFVII fandom has spent so long gaslighting itself into believing this that any attempt to dispel these notions is met with disbelief.
(Also, personally, having Cloud be that level of insecure reminds me a little too much of his underage teen, Crisis Core, pre-Nibelheim incident personality for comfort. Idk, that's just me.)
Anyway, this comment's gone on for way too long. tl;dr: I get why awkward(!) inexperienced(!) Cloud content might appeal to some people, I'm just leery of their motivations and character interpretation. Present company excepted, that is. Best of luck with your content. Peace.
