i know “yor finally gets assigned to kill twilight/loid finally gets assigned to thorn princess” is a really fun and popular future plot line people like to think about, but i think “yor gets assigned to kill desmond sr” could cause equal amounts of drama. because operation strix is not KILLING desmond, it’s getting close to him and infilitrating his inner circle. and you can’t do that if he’s… dead

cue shenanigans of twilight miserably trying to keep this horrible man alive from this demoness who he had assumed was an urban legend and yor going “who is this fucker who keeps getting in my way”

unpopular opinion but the gaang’s story is over. i don’t care for a live action reboot or a movie or an ATLA cinematic universe following them in the future made by writers who haven’t been able to squeeze similar success from their other projects and studios hoping to milk a popular IP for nostalgia-bait and turn it into the next franchise. that’s not me seeing the movie will be defacto bad because it’s riding off of the recent wave of ATLA popularity or anything—just that the current state of media is that a finished, good thing is never allowed to stay a finished, good thing. it must have spin-offs, sequels, prequels, anything to keep the cashcow running in the capitalist hellscape that will never allow art to sleep or age or rest peacefully, no matter how long it has been or how well-finished and -rounded an ending it had. let art end

the resounding sigh of disappointment everyone let out when they found out across the spiderverse is focusing on gwen and miles’ romance and adding in a love triangle with spiderpunk is so satisfying. because yeah they might do it well and yeah it was #hinted at but idk a part of me hoped they wouldn’t seek to focus on the least compelling and important part of the first movie and maybe continue miles’ teenage coming of age journey by focusing on literally *anything other* than the thing the mcu spider-man already did for his entire trilogy (and probably did it better because it was with zendaya) when what people loved about the first movie was its focus on family and identity… and of course a sequel can explore different things. we were just hoping it would be less predictable things (ie not a fucking love triangle)

being someone who’s even moderately into superhero comics is cursed because whenever a superhero movie comes out or a mutual gets into a superhero movie and reblogs some cute blorbo comic panels you get 8000 psychic damage because you know that cute blorbo comic panel was written by White Man McMisogynist who erased a character’s disability in 2008 made your fave a billionaire in 2016 and killed someone’s dog yesterday
