greatninjadragon said: Funny thing about Gear second is that Movie 7 gives a noncanon explanation of how Luffy accidently discovered it. Though if you watch the movie, got to warn you, it’s the most infamous of the one piece movies.
Has Oda ever given an explanation of how Luffy discovered his second and third gears, or is it just down to being inspired by his nakama and wanting to defeat CP9?
half-man-half-lime said: Wait, why is Movie 7 infamous? I just finished watching it, it still seemed pretty good. (Though I have to say, movie 4 is REALLY fun, and movie 6 is on a whole other level.)
What’s the best one to watch first?
tempus-nexus answered: Honestly, everything that happens from this point on marks one of One Piece’s greatest moments. Starting with Gear Second, this is what marks this arc as One Piece’s best. It’s gonna get crazy. Also Spandam can just disappear for all I care. Hate him
I just watched up to 277. Who put these tears in my eyes?
greatninjadragon said: Movie 7 is infamous not that it’s bad but that whoever was working on it, made nami and robin’s boobs very noticeable. As in noticeable detail in them as well as jiggle physics whenever they make any movement no matter how slight. And now you see a lot of jokes made about this.
Ahhh... gravity-defying boobs. I remember having my first encounter with those when I was a kid and played Soul Calibur. They moved at a different speed from everything else. What sorcery! xD
ishidashadow answered: While being stuck with a “crappy” devil fruit might seem like something of a curse, a creative/resourceful person could do so much more with it. Think about Crocodile - manipulating sand seems kind of “eh”, but then you see what he pulls off…
Yeah, Mr 3′s candle power was pretty crappy but Crocodile’s sand is terrifying. I guess it depends a lot on the wielder of the power. ^_^

That makes a lot of sense. It’s good to know Luffy’s conscientious that way and knows he’s responsible.
blogquantumreality answered: XD Ah, Zoro, my fave badass lost swordsman :P And yeah, Gear Second and Gear Third! WOOHOO YEAH LUFFY GO. And Nami! She has truly mastered powers the equal of God Enel’s. I love how the Straw Hats level up and keep leveling up! :)
They are leveling up! And they don’t even know it half the time, which makes it so much more fun to watch. ^_^
meheartonepiece said: In another translation, I remember that Chopper says something like “I’ll make you a medicine Zoro! A hopeless medicine for a hopeless idiot.” XDDDD I think that might have been in the manga tho
Chopper’s manga burn was even sicker. I love that reindeer. He doesn’t know how funny he is. xD
sparktehfox said: Remember what’s been said here regarding the fruits as it fits into the greater story. Also, as you are new to the series I realized that you won’t get the full effect of episode 405. That may be jumping the gun but you’ll understand.
All I know right now is that eating two will make you explode. (And Jabura’s story about a devil living in side the fruit). Oh, and that you sink in water, obviously.
blogquantumreality said: 4Kids is universally reviled in the fandom because of bonehead decisions like that. FUNimation (DVDs) and Crunchyroll (web eps) are pretty much the gold standard for subbed episodes that are “official” translations.
Glad 4Kids bowed out of One Piece before they did any further damage. Cutting out Little Garden. Honestly...
meheartonepiece said: We just skimmed through the first episode, pausing every few minutes to check we hadn’t missed anything important, then skipped the others entirely when we saw a flashback. (Also I had already read the manga so I kept an eye on the title XDD). As far as I remember, there’s present day scenes at the beginning and at the end, but it was p much the same every episode, only focusing on the one the flashbacks were centered on. I could be wrong tho. Oh yeah, and 4kids even edited Laboon out, the bastards! >:( he became an iceberg that Luffy shot with the cannon and destroyed, never mind that I doubt Merry’s cannon was strong enough to destroy an enormous iceberg like that, and all the characters. Had terrible voices in that dub. I remember watching an episode of the 4kids dub on youtube before it was taken down, and apparently Shank was Irish bc… Idk, he had red hair. XDDDD
Whaaaaaaaat? 4Kids edited out Laboon? Whyyyyy? He’s one of my favourite characters (legit). How dare they kill off Laboon? >:|
