Specifically Maddie's teacher- Like they know about the divorce and all that but they secretly still give updates to Max about how Maddison is doing and sends pictures of drawings Maddie made during art time or Maddie having fun with her friends to help brighten his day/unknowingly give him things that help keep him calm and remind him why he's in therapy in the first place-

Maddie only talked wonders about you. You were her favorite teacher. So, by proxy, Max liked you.
The few times he went to pick up Maddie, You greeted him with a smile and a warm welcome. where others were intimidated by the man. But you could see his good nature, especially as he hoisted maddie up on his shoulder and let her talk his ear off about her day.
So when the divorce happened, he wasnt as surprised as he thought he'd be when you started sending mail to his home with school pictures and letters about Maddie.
↳ He was a parent, his contact info mustve been somewhere in the school records.
After that he showed up at your classroom when classes were over, with some take out and a thank you on his lips. A man of few words, but he meant well.
↳ You so deeply rooted for him, Maddie tells you a lot that she misses her dad. You spend a few hours just updating Max on what his daughter did today.
↳ Max knows better than anyone that actions speak louder than words. So he begins to offer you to take you to work if your car broke, or maybe he can fix it for you. And in these drives you slowly warm him up to the idea of therapy.
↳"Court Mandated Therapy is still therapy,Max" "I aint no danger to my daughter! I love her" "i know, and Maddie knows that. Just put up with it, okay? Actions speak louder than words. Be willing and maybe thatll snap the judge out of whatever state they're in. I know you dont like it, but do it for Maddie- Not because somebody told you to, do it for your kid" "fine...Guess you do have a point"
When Max brought you up to Desmond, the therapist could see a glint of the man's true personality. All tought and bullish, Mr.Nygaard had a soft spot for you. And that spurred him on to try and help Max even if hes a tough nut to crack.
You seem to be one of the few people that can get through to max,and this translates to his shadow.
↳Your shadow would be a farm bird, Like a Quail (they're shy, and great companion animals for other critters). It would be made of machine like The Bull, but more of like a star proyector or some sort of child's lamp. Lithe and fast, good for distracting Max or as an alarm.
↳Your shadow would try and distract Max with their chatter, or reminding him about maddie, telling childhood stories or child's fairy tales. After all, dealing with max sometimes feels like dealing with children.
↳ If not a bird, then a herding dog. Probably nudge him away or distract him from Desmond. You'd have a spiky collar and still be made of the same child's lamp or star proyector with many moving pieces.
↳You help Desmond chain the Bull to the truck, and you curl up ontop of his boney frame as his eyes go dark. When he's gone, so are you, thanking Desmond for his help and errupting into a beautiful show of stars proyected across the whole quarry.

Aaaaaaaand now for Lucas' opposite- This one is actually pretty difficult for me since both me and my partner relate to him (we never went to war obviously but yk- Also ironically I'm also from Florida so the second I found out he was originally from Florida I legit screamed "WHY IS IT ALWAYS FLORIDA-" because the amount of times I see characters from Florida who look/are seen as insane by people is- oh boy-)
The only things I could think of is someone who is VERY passive and calm- Aka not easily paranoid and refuses to harm anything- They could also struggle with technology/aren't the smartest since Lucas seems to be very good with that- BUT is very good at talking to people/seeming normal since Lucas seems to struggle with that lol-

Lord fucking help this man. He is happy youre chill and all. Honestly he appreciates it. But good LORD it drives him insane sometimes. He is a paranoid man, and sometimes your chillness rubs him the wrong way if hes In A State.
He'll teach you about tech, it helps calm his nerves. Because Yes tech is temperamental but he knows how to deal with temperamental things. That's his whole thing throughout his whole life. He also taught Jane how to use a computer,now that was a challenge.
You are a tremendous help if he gets into a paranoid spiral, You've made a whole routine and plans A through Z to help him out. He is so,so grateful for you in these moments. Because hes been alone for so long, he doesnt remember how Being Helped felt like.
You might take him out for some air, or try to get him talking about stuff he likes- Usually unrelated to war, or radios, or tech because that makes things worse.
He jokes sometimes if youre on something, and if hes really feeling funny or realizing hes being way too paranoid he jokingly asks if he can have some.
If you manage to blue screen a computer he might make you an award with scrap metal. He also wants to see how many times can you crash his radio device. (The PTSD one lol).
If his shadow is a huge,skeleton radiotower with a spotlight the size of the sun, your shadow is probably the complete opposite. Standing on the shortest short side, probably a little untangible like mist, low shinning eyes and merely follows Desmond around,pointing useful items to him without saying a word.

They'd probably never even know Virginia has scars unless they're actually told or felt Virginia's face and felt them- Even then some scars are just discoloration of the skin- So even then, they might not know if they did feel Virginia's face unless there's actual indents in her skin-
I think it'd be a cute relationship with multiple 'unique' compliments like: "You smell nice" "You sound pretty" "You feel beautiful" "Your hair is soft" stuff like that-

You literally ran into Virginia. She was at Homa Mart, keeping her head down as she went to get groceries. Both of you stumbled, and before she can apologize, with anxiety rising in her stomach, she notes your walking cane.
You cant look at her in the eye, but with a little grin you say "Sorry, I didnt see where i was going" you can hear virignia's little stiffled laugh. "Its okay, you can laugh". Your disabilty had never been a source of shame. Sure, it made things a bit difficult,but it was part of you.
Virginia isnt a people person, but her way of apologizing is to help you in your shopping. And she speaks low and meek but you welcome her all the same. She helps you put things in your cart, and follows along to whatever youre talking about.
She's surprised to find you give her your number by the end.
Desmond gets told about this, and he encourages Virginia to try again with you. And feeling the fruits of her hard work, she does.
Your getting together is a bit awkward at first,dates where both of you dont know how to fully navigate it, but the takeaway is that you have fun. That you like being by eachother's side.
With time, Virginia lets you trace her face. And she's hoping for you to say something about her scars- But you dont. Because thats not the first thing you notice about her.
"I feel like your smile is very pretty, just something about the way your face curves when you smile". Its hard for her not to bust crying right then and there.
Your relationship is filled with soft moments. Your compliments always have that purple prose to it.

You look a little like you do in the real world, only youre clad in a fine dress/suit, a small pouch with a hand made plush is strapped to your side, it bounces as you walk. And though there are blacked out glasses resting on your nose,you have no eyes. You're like a nightmarish doll.
↳You purpousely hit the cane to the floor to mask whatever noises Desmond makes.
↳ And if he is spotted, then you get between the Watcher and him
↳ Your shadow can be heard distracting the watcher with compliments.
By the end of her level, Your shadow stays with Virginia in the toy area. Your shadow hugs her, and when she vanishes in a cloud of purple,so do you. Leaving your cane to Desmond,as a parting gift.

Desmond encouraged Lucas to get stuff that he likes. Little treats and the like. Its good to spoil oneself.
Color him surprised when Sally Witherspoon tells him theyre adding some flowers to the Park,and introduces you- The town florist- And tells him he'll help with the landscaping of it all.
If you do dress like a hippie,hes into it. Especially since hes a Viet war veteran and the Hippie movement was big on ending the war. Regardless of how he felt about it before,in hindsight hes very fond of it now. So its like a pleaseant blast from the past. He doesnt get those as often as he'd like.
He helps you unload the flowers from your truck. (Picture it however you want,but I see a pretty green colored, 50s pick up truck) and hes making light conversation and lets it slide he would like to get himself some flowers just to pretty up his house. Or to dry them to make little keepsakes.
Thats how it starts. The landscaping takes a few good days,and in the process you begin to make Lucas some flower crowns. Little trinkets to show your appreciation, hes really hard working and all.
You do pick flowers with symbolism,just a little thing you liked to do. You know not everyone knows the language of flowers and its like a fun little secret for your sole enjoyment.
Lucas does relent in using them. Not being one to have fragile masculinity,and it the park goers seem to like it. Eliott specially bugs him to wear it, he has his own too.
↳Speaking of Eliott,if you do gift Lucas plain old flowers,he Will put them in one of the mugs Eliott's sister made for him.

He defenetly goes to the library to read up on it. And he doesnt say it right away,but he begins to show up at your shop. Gaia's Green house. Gotta Keep up the greek mythology motif. With little gifts,probably hand carved wood stuff. (I hc he does wood carving. He just seems like the type).

Lucas doesnt tell you he knows what the flowers mean,but he is thankful. His eyes get all teary as he connect the dots. But his gifts let you know he knows,and he appreciates them beyond what words can Express.

I think it'd be a cute dynamic of soldier × nurse lol- Reader is very supportive and helpful- Doing little things to help Lucas get through his day like making him lunch, getting him coffee if needed but also scolding him if he has TOO much and sayings he should try tea instead, helping him eat healthier, and "secretly" finishing some of Lucas' park ranger tasks and pretending to not know who did it- (Lucas knows it's them- Literally no one else would know what all he had to do for work lol)

So, you probably met him during the war. Lord help him,he's gotten himself a dumb ass injury because he was fucking around and he inevitably found out. Head Nurse Jane Zhao sent him your way because she was too fucking busy to deal with her knucklehead heart-nephew.
Great, dumb idiot injury plus cute nurse. Just his luck.
But instead of scolding him,you find the situation hilarious, and patch him up. "Please,dont do this again, you could seriously get hurt" "I dont make any promises,Miss".
He might appear in the ward a few more times before he begins to show up with tea/coffee/water for you. He is thankful you didnt rip him a new one like Jane couldve done.
Here's where his interest in you starts. He doesnt really make a move because how the hell do you flirt with someone in an active warzone?.
Jane catches up quickly, and gives him utter hell for it. As always, the loving heart aunt she is!.
If the injury he gets isnt too serious, she'll send him your way. Or she might make up an excuse for you to check up on him. Begins to give you longer breaks in the hopes you go see Lucas. But given the circumstances not much else happens other than Awkard Flirting TM.
When you meet again in Milton-Haven,boy oh boy is he surprised!. He brings you in for a huge, awkard and clunky hug and asks you how you been.
He doesnt talk about much of why he was discharged from the army. Maybe makes up a half lie about it. He mainly tries to keep chatter centered towards you, in hopes to shield you from the WILD SHIT hes up to.
Like clockwork,you two begin your cat and mouse game. You getting treats or drinks sent to your office if you still work as a nurse (Probably in Never Lose Hope Hospital if thats the actual in game name?), you showing up and helping him behind his back.
Might bring him coffee while hes on Firewatch Duty, and Eliott instantly is like "Heyyyy- Who is that?" and lucas getting huffy and flustered, telling him youre just a friend. Eliott doesnt trust it for a SECOND,i tell you.
Lucas lets it slide to Jane one day that you're up here doing your thing, and she begins to PESTER HIM to pick up where you two left off. He plays dumb and says its not the same. Liar, he really wants to try again.
So he might invite you over to the watchtower if its a calm night, or take you camping when somebody else is covering his shift (Almost always Eliott, world's best wingman). He knows you're the one doing some of his tasks for him. "So,was it you that cleaned up the campfire areas?" ". . .No?" "Mhm,sure. Anyway,...Thanks"
In turn, you begin to make sure his first aid is always stocked. You could be in the middle of your shift and Lucas calls you over because he ran out of Gauze and you DROP EVERYTHING (or excuse yourself if thats not your deal!) to go help him.
↳ "Not to look a gift horse in the mouth,but dont you need this stuff more than i do?" "its just some stuff, nobody will find it missing. Plus, you think other nurses dont nab some stuff when nobody's looking? Im putting it to a good cause at least." "oh shush,you-"
He's not good at accepting these favors, but therapy with Desmond does help him a lot.
On that note, he always has something to say about you to Desmond. And his therapist knows from the very first moment that he has feelings for you. So, he pushes the old veteran to get his act together and ask him out.
↳Three wingmans AND COUNTING. Lucas isnt amused.
His work,what hes doing- He doesnt want to put you in danger. Of course he thinks about what could've been if he made his move sooner. If he settled down with you. But he doesnt want to lose you. Especially after he loses Rosemary.
But he cant really help it,especially as more patients begin to show up with what Lucas knows to be " Agent Rainbow Poisoning ". The moment he sees you confused and overwhelmed, he spills the beans. Not even worrying about what if you call him crazy? He knows he can trust you,he knows you before his life went to shit. He has to hope you believe him.
How long it takes you to come to terms is up to you in this scenario. Either way, when you do he knows you got his back.
And when Desmond falls victim to the chemical,You're the first one he calls for help. Suddenly he finds his home turned into an impromptu medical ward with you, and Jane. He knows he has to make his move now.
Maybe not the best time to ask you out- But his life has always been weird and unsual so whats one more line on the tiger's back?
Hopefully you both can find a reprieve in eachother's company, a date or two wont hurt nobody. He'll keep you safe.

Since Desmond is a therapist this reader would probably be his worse nightmare lol- I'm meaning the embodiment of the typical sayings: "More espresso to forget depresso" (coffee addict), "Trauma? Oh you mean the reasons I'm funny-" (dark humor and not acknowledging their trauma), "I'm staying home today- I have mood poisoning" (will randomly not leave the house and stay in bed until forcefully DRAGGED out of bed), "Therapy is nice... but screaming at the top of your lungs for 10 seconds is a lot faster and cheaper" (avoids therapy like the plague- Again- Desmond's worse nightmare lol)
Even better if there two moods are basically:
1- Calm and collected over things that SHOULD worry them
2- Panicking and over thinking over the smallest thing
They're a sweetheart but also Desmond's worse nightmare at times lol- Speaking of worse nightmare! Their shadow would ALSO be Agent Rainbow's worse nightmare. Because this shadow would most likely be able to follow Desmond EVERYWHERE like he does. They'd probably nitpick everything Rainbow does saying how a kid could have done better than this, actively fix a lot of the problems Desmond faces making his adventure easier because he doesn't have to do as much, taunt Rainbow, hang up the phone while he's trying to talk to Desmond, will SOMEHOW manage to call Agent Rainbow to annoy him right back or cuss him out for something he did, and would probably be threatening to punch the mental illness often lol- Would definitely square up with Rainbow if he got too close lol-
Basically all in all this reader is an absolute gremlin- Helpful- But a gremlin nonetheless lol

Wether you are a neighborg or his patient,he knows its gonna be a Long,long work chipping away at that maladaptive coping strategy.
He begins to tell you that Humor is a good way of processing things. (actual Advise my therapist gave me) but that wording and intention are key to be able to help yourself process your trauma without dissociating yourself from it.
He works tirelessly,dilligently,for weeks- months. And hes began writing down all the phrases you've said. Hes sort of Reverse pavlov you into stopping the maladaptive habits.
↳"Trauma? You mean the reason im funny?" [Writes it down] "eat spaghetti to forget your regretti-!" [Writes it down]. "Hey uh- espresso-" [writes it down] "Okay,jeez,ill stop!"
↳He does feel bad for kind of guilting you into it. Maybe thats not 100% how to do it. But hes making you aware of what you say and how you talk to yourself.
Journailing,hobbies,everything is set on the table for you. He reminds you,very gently,that if you dont change nothing Will change.
↳Hes kind in helping you get out of bed. Hes careful and never judges. To the point that you start remembering his words when you slip into self destructive habits or cant get out of bed. And what do you know,it helps.
Its slow progress,but Desmonds not somebody that just throws in the towel.
Very fond of your Shadow even if he doesnt always agree with It. Appreciates the help,and Tonia likes you so he trusts his cat. Cats are good judge of character in his opinion.
Your shadow does still sneak up on him,and he takes your apologies if you do startle him on accident. Your shadow means well!
And he appreciates the company. It gets very lonely,especially in the tapes. And if youre not around,he'll talk like you are. He believes you can hear him even if youre not physically there.

↳As Any good Jester, you make fun of Rainbow. You throw your whole hammerspace pocket,wrench included,in his plans. Lock Desmond in the Elevator? You sneak in and Open the Doors. Lock Him in the freezer? Youre the one that gives the dummy the key. Or throw a jacket in there.

Your bullying starts getting to him and he gets both angry and a little...sad? Desmonds says to ease up a little on it- Poor dude feels bad. Even if Rainbow is trying to kill him,lol.
↳ Tonia loves you. Shes your enabler to bully the hell out of Rainbow. And if desmond catches you two? Youre getting scolded, both of you.
↳ You pull pranks on rainbow for tonia. And he can tell it was Tonias ideas because theyre too cat like. Knock his hat off his head,trip Him, domino knock down his traps. He hates you both.
But despite hating - He also appreciates your moxie. He sees it as a challenge,but despite as high and mighty as he acts,hes a coward. Hes made of fear and shame,of course hes a coward!.
He takes a while to get used to your bullying. But he slowly toughens up and turns your insults into banter,and hey your shadow gets a Real kick out of it.
By the end of the game. He says he "tolerates you" tulpa to tulpa,lol. And if he stares a little too Long at you,no you didnt notice that. Dont say diddly squat.
Oh,you and rosemary make his life even worse. The whole crypt level? Desmond doesnt even fight the inkblots witt you around. You just kick their asses or scold them at the top of their lungs.
Rose and you often times make snarky and shady comments at rainbow during Lucas' tape. He throws shit at you two,but Rose is a GHOST and you work on CARTOON PHYSICS. God is not on his side and you two make it a point to remind him at every turn possible.
