It took me a while to finally do this, but Issue 50 is out, and I’m ready to talk about it! There’s a lot to cover here, so let’s jump right into it! Also, spoilers!
So both Sonic and Tails have been forced into fighting Surge and Kit, and while Sonic and Surge are getting ready to do so, Surge reveals what it is she’s planning on doing and why she wants to do it...
Surge is fully aware that her hatred towards Sonic is unwarranted because it was simply a false belief put into her head by Starline, but after thinking about it, she comes to the realization that none of this would have happened to her if not for Sonic. She’s really, REALLY upset that Sonic could have prevented her from losing her memories and has made mistakes and is still the world-renowned hero he is despite that, and it makes her realize that she actually DOES hate Sonic and wants to destroy him and everyone else even more now than she did before.
This goes even deeper a little bit later, but while this is going on, Starline takes control of one Eggman’s mechs, and the two begin fighting themselves...
Even after all that’s happened, Starline is still willing to let Eggman join him in his plan for world conquest. But Eggman? He’s had enough of Starline at this point and is ready to prove that he doesn’t need Starline to succeed on his own.
Also, Belle is still busy trying to fix Metal Sonic and eventually succeeds in doing so, only to find out by accessing his files that he can keep track of Eggman’s location, and the two set out to go find him.
Meanwhile, Kit is busy trying to defeat Tails, but while dodging his attacks, Tails becomes interested in Kit’s abilities and instead wants to talk to him...
Tails can tell that Kit doesn’t feel too good about himself, and Kit is also having a hard time making the decision to talk to Tails because he was programmed to always have Surge and Starline tell him what to do, but he eventually gives in and allows himself to tell Tails about Starline and how he feels towards him.
Tails then offers Kit to join him and the others in stopping Surge and Starline, but the mere idea of them stopping Surge from beating Sonic makes him stop listening to Tails and instead continue fighting him.
Back to Sonic and Surge, Sonic is once again trying to talk Surge into changing herself for the better instead of fighting him, but Surge doesn’t see much of a point in doing so.
The two then continue fighting for a bit while Sonic continues talking about giving Surge a chance, and while this is going on, Starline has seemingly succeeded in beating Eggman with his Tricore.
“So... how did you know I would use the cores to make the Tricore and use my glove to hypnotize you?”
“BECAUSE YOU JUST TOLD ME, PLATYPUS BOY!”
Also, after he defeats Starline, Eggman is met by both Belle and Metal Sonic, and Belle says one final goodbye to the man who was once her father...
Eggman gives Belle the choice to either continue hanging out with Sonic and the gang or work with him repairing his robots, but Belle of course declines his offer and begins making her way back to Sonic and Tails.
On her way out, however...
Welp, Starline’s dead. Don’t worry, give him enough time and he’ll come back, they always do.
Also, Kit ends up running out of water, and when Tails shuts off his backpack thing, he also somehow ends up knocking Kit out in the process.
While all of this is going on, Sonic and Surge have been fighting the whole time still, and it eventually leads to Sonic knocking Surge towards a hole and her just barely managing to grab the edge...
It’s okay, Sonic characters are immune to fall damage. She’ll be fine.
So Sonic, Tails (with Kit in tow) and Belle regroup and decide that the day is saved and it’s time for them to leave.
...actually, Eggman has other plans.
And that’s it for Issue 50! I honestly wasn’t expecting this Issue to be as loaded as it was, but I definitely had a lot of fun reading it and think it was a really good milestone Issue! I especially like the parts where we see Surge and Kit really let loose and let out their emotions that have building up since Imposter Syndrome, and I’m definitely interested to see where they both end up going in the following Issues.
