For your enjoyment this Valentine’s Day, imagine: Every year SHIELD has a capture-the-flag type game that ranges around the world and everyone gets wildly into it. There are countless teams and no rules and people have been known to be shot in the process (“only, like, three times though, it’s fine, don’t tell Fury”). Coulson decides to reinstate the tradition and everyone’s worked up into a frenzy trying to form teams (the teams are typically massive, 20+ people minimum). Everyone expects Jemma to join Fitz and the rest of the core group, but the science bros have a policy of always competing, so she goes off to form her own team but at this point pretty much everyone is already settled? So it ends up being just her and Bobbi (Bobbi may or may not have convinced Coulson to bring the game back just so she could work with Simmons) and everyone is like “…okay you seem to be missing like fifty more agents but it’s your funeral.” Skip forward a week. Daisy has Hunter locked in a closet because she believes he’s a double-agent for Maye (he totally is). Mac has threatened to quit five times. Fitz and Lincoln are stranded in Peru. And Coulson is monitoring it all from HQ, head in his hands, wondering why he agreed to this when he hears Simmons knock on his door. “Sir?” And he turns and Simmons is there, half in Bobbi’s arms, with an exhausted grin on her face and some orange chemical coating her arms and every single flag in her hands.
