I finished reading a manga yesterday, Hatch Potch Panch (still have no idea why its named got translated like that when some of the volume covers literally say Hotch Potch Punch, but whatever) it was absolutely invigorating very quick rundown is that it's about a highschool girl named Kiho who gets recruited by a former kickboxing champion, Reina, specifically because Kiho is "a beast in human skin" to quote Reina. said recruitment is for a women's MMA tournament held between (I believe?) 12 up and coming women in combat sports Kiho, as a character, is absolutely off the walls deranged and in love with hurting other people
to the point of ignoring her own physical limits on occasion, to the horror of her opponents, just so she can get back up and keep hitting one of her early opponents refers to her as a zombie for her efforts, which is reaffirmed in a later on page, in one of my favorite parts of the story because it kinda marks a definitive downward turn for Kiho as a person (affectionate)
this wasn't meant as a review or anything, I just had to gush about this manga, even with its kinda confusing and at times poorly handled translation; it was so captivating, and it partially filled the hole that Teppu had left in my heart over a decade ago if you wanna watch girls beat the shit out of each other, with a main character who gets progressively worse (again, affectionate) over the course of its runtime, I cannot recommend this one enough
also despite the artist using only 3 types of eyes to indicate a character (namely Kiho) has fallen to the depths of her punch drunk bloodlust, it manages to be unnerving AND kickass every time because of her (as depicted above) creepily wide grin she has near constantly
big fan of when she has flat black panes for eyes, though
