Your eminence, how does one stop purchasing chocolate for someone they've become enamoured with? Asking for a friend
- Lovesick
I suppose this depends on a number of factors. By purchasing this individual chocolates, I assume you are attempting to peruse them. Gifts are a very common tactic for initiating courtship, and indeed, throughout. Bella still appreciates the odd gift of a magical artifact or some artisan chocolates.
As this habit seems to have been distressing to you, I can imagine that perhaps a formal courtship is impossible in some way (they are already partnered/they are a conglomerate of red flags/they have indicated lack of interest in your attentions) or else you are appalled at the changes in your own behavior. I admit, I often look upon myself with unease when I have bestowed something trivial upon Bellatrix in the name of our partnership. Or perhaps you are merely running out of funds.
I suppose the best way to combat this depends on why you wish to stop. If the match is impossible, you are going to have to come to terms with this knowledge. If you are averse towards your own change in behavior, you may want to consider the pros and cons of maintaining such a relationship. If you are running out of funds, well, the problem may very well solve itself for you: you cannot purchase chocolates when you no longer have any money to do so. Budgeting may help.
I do hope you have found a reasonable resolution to your conundrum.
