Jayce from arcane was boring and I didn't even like him. I didn't care about Mel's "potential relationship" with him or whatever because I thought mel was more interesting than him, and I honestly think her story should've just been more about her family issues and Ambessa and trying to make it big in the world without that guy, but that's just because I didn't have shipper goggles on when I watched this show at all lol.

I don't think it's "stereotypical" to want to watch the black lady on screen do cool shit with her own lore and everything, and I certainly don't think her not having a boyfriend in the end is somehow proof that the writers hated her. I hate how everyone just ignores the parts of her character that have nothing to do with that man. I honestly think if she and Jayce weren't even really a thing and she was just her own character not connected to him at all, there'd still be JayMel shippers but there wouldn't be this annoying need for her to even have a romantic partnership or whatever in the end in order for her story to seem interesting or "complete".

But idk maybe that's just me and my unwillingness to even really like "romances" in that way, I don't understand why Romance is even a thing that has to be in every single piece of media or apart of every single character's storyline. I just think it is incredibly annoying when you say you wish she never even had a romantic interest people start side eyeing YOU when they're the ones making her entire character revolve around a man. Like somehow, someway saying you want the story to be about her and not about this random guy and that you don't even like romance is a step too far and "suspicious" T_T

And when I do make posts just about mel it gets like barely any interaction idk I just think people are also lying about "liking her without Jayce or Viktor" attached lol.
