Do you buy into these theories of McLaren sabotaging Oscar to make Lando look good?
I know the not pitting both drivers was a massive mistake, and the team has admitted as much, but there wasn't half as much outrage and I didn't see any conspiracy theories at all when the team made the same decision that negatively impacted Norris in Saudi this year.
They also haven't really been giving team orders. They were allowed to battle at the Austria sprint, when Oscar got close during the Silverstone inters stint, he was never told they couldn't battle.
It seems stupid to me that people really believe this conspiracy theory when they're less than 10 points away from overtaking Ferrari in the Constructor's. Neither of their drivers have a realistic shot at the WDC, I would think they're putting the Constructor's in mind over that. I don't think they are favoring any driver, I just don't think their strategy or even pit teams are as fine-tuned as some of the other top teams's.

This explains my stance pretty much perfectly.
I don’t buy into this belief that McLaren are ‘sabotaging’ Piastri for Norris, there have been some moments that raised eyebrows but that was more so last year and I wouldn’t even call them sabotaging, more so preferential strategy.
I think what is happening is the fact that McLaren hasn’t been this competitive for well over 12 years and as such a lot of the team members either haven’t been in this situation before or haven’t been in this situation at McLaren.
Like both drivers had really good results taken from them, they went from an expected 1-2 to a 3-4.
If anything Piastri got better and clearer comms, especially later in the race.
I think that the McLaren team are kind of out of their depths a bit at the moment, they kind of suddenly became competitive and their comms and strategy are still very much that of a midfield team, and it’s something they need to work on.
So no, no big conspiracy about sabotaging one driver over another, the team is just drowning a bit.
