i think the ending would have been different if they were sure they would have another season (and also if they had 10 episodes instead of 8) because then they wouldn't have needed to close it as much and as quickly. obviously things still are very open and there's room for a lot to happen, the story isn't over at all, but the season ended in a way that if it was the end of the show it would be okay, unlike the first season which ended with a heart-wrenching cliffhanger
