It was the furthest northern room in the entire hospitale, a choice made with deliberate care. Serenei had secured it not for the view—though the distant sweep of the Chionthar could still be glimpsed from its window—but for its seclusion. No passing chambermaids with loose tongues, no drunken guests stumbling through the wrong door. The thick stone walls muffled the hum of the city, the air here carrying only the sounds she allowed in: the soft lick of the pool’s water against its marble lip, the low crackle of the hearth. Privacy was not a luxury in Baldur’s Gate, it was a currency, and tonight she had bought it in full.
Satin drapes, wine-dark, with a sheen like wet petals, hung heavy from the tall windows, muting the late afternoon light into something honeyed and lazy. The air held the low warmth of the hearth and the sharper mineral steam rising from the sunken stone pool at the far end of the chamber; its waters—imbued with gladiolus and coarse sea salt—fed by some secret channel beneath the city. Candlelight clung to the surface in molten ripples, breaking on veins of marble.
The faint salinity of the pool, the resin-sweet smoke of a sandalwood taper burning on the low table, and something softer, floral—amber and crushed violet—seeping from the oils in the air, served as the soft aide-memoire that the nature of such kind of spaces required for forgetting clocks and remembering bodies.
Serenei had made herself part of it. She'd made the rosewood-carved divan her shore, her body stretched along its length as though she’d simply drifted there and decided not to move again. Nothing clothed her but the spill of her hair, spider-silk white and heavy, faintly damp from some earlier soak—spilled over the armrest in a silken tide, perfumed faintly with jasmine. The heat of the room had left her warm and tingly, the faintest sheen of moisture glinting where her curve caught the light. She reclined lazily with one leg folded beneath her, the other stretched languidly along the cushions.
It was Melihel’s nameday, and the space had been set for celebration; if not the sort served in public. A lacquered tray near the pool bore a cluster of figs, honey-glazed and glistening, a decanter waited beside it, its cut glass belly fat with deep garnet feywine. The door gave a slow, deliberate sigh as it opened, spilling a ribbon of cooler hallway air into the heat of the room. Framed in the doorway stood Melihel, the candlelight catching at the edges of her silhouette. Serenei’s gaze lifted, a smile curving slow and deep—afterall, she’d been waiting for this exact moment all week. “Another turn around the sun, my starling” she purred, easing herself up from the divan, muscles stretching gently after the long rest.
"What's a guy gotta do to get fucked around here...?"
As she flutters her wings, her tails quiver in a hypnotizing manner... ... purely by accident as she tries to fly once again, immediately colliding with a wall.
”I’m always happy to chat if you’ll buy me a drink, then again I could offer you one… you look great.”

“ Seems so! Hopefully not terribly long, darling ... though, I suppose a bit of suspense never hurts to establish the mood ... ” a hand reached out for her cheek, caressing the rosy red spot ... before gripping behind her neck, angling her face upwards as he leaned closer to her. “ Tell me how much you missed me, Charlie. ”
