Roshal
Roshal are large, bristly shrubs that were commonly found on Korriban. Its name, roshal, refers to both the bush and the pink berries it produces. It was a reliable crop and used as a staple of Sith diet due to its availability and ease of cultivation. Unlike some other Korribani plants, roshal are more adaptable and bear fruit for most of the year.
The plant’s fruits are small, pink berries with a slightly tough outer layer or peel. These berries have a sweet, tart flavor even when fully ripe. They are also the one part of the plant that remains through all seasons while the leaves and flowers fall.
Roshal berries can be eaten raw, juiced, cooked, baked into pastries, preserved as a jam, or dried and ground into a seasoning.
They are also brewed into teas which are popular among Sith and some Imperials who try to emulate aspects of Sith culture and life.
Aside from the berries the roshal plant also has flowers that are edible for human and Sith consumption.
Unlike the berries and plant, the flowers are called rosha and bloom once a [Korribani] year. The flowers are also darker in color than the berries, having a purple/magenta shade. Like its berry counterpart it can be consumed, but mostly in the form of teas and garnish.
It is mainly used for decorative purposes symbolizing several things within Sith culture such as beauty, fame, and glory. The name Roshana comes from this flower and is often a popular name choice for Sith girls born during the time these flowers bloom.
Today the roshal are rarely in their native habitats on Korriban. But unlike with some of their other botanical counterparts most Sith households are able to grow these bushes in personal gardens. This is seen as a simple way to connect with their heritage while also having a supply of fresh berries all year round.
