Steve wasn’t expecting visitors, never does anymore since the fall of SHIELD. He knew that Nat went off to do whatever it was she was doing, Sam never knocked anyway, other people would call beforehand so they didn’t have to knock, and Bucky was still on the run. Which is why when he hears a knock at the door, the first thing he does is pick up his shield and moves towards the door.

He slowly opens it and when he sees who is it, he smiles gently. “Nat,” he greets softly, but he’s surprised to see that it’s raining. He hadn’t noticed it before “Hey. Come in.” He doesn’t know if he should be asking any questions. He doesn’t know why she’s here or if she’s hurt, so he takes it one step at a time, ushering her in. “God, you must be cold. I’ll get you a towel.”
