“ i kissed you. “ “ i know, i… was there. “ for supercorp please
You know I can't resist prompts like this!
“I kissed you.” “I know, I…was there.”
---
Lena can’t stop replaying the moment in her mind, the strong press of Kara’s muscles as they’d hugged goodbye, the too soft smile Kara had given when she’d pulled away, the quiet, “text me when you get home safe,” like they don’t spend every night before they fall asleep talking anyway.
Which, up until then, had been a completely normal night between best friends. But then Lena had done something entirely stupid, completely without thought, she’d leant forward and kissed Kara, right on the lips.
Lips that she hasn’t been about to stop thinking about since.
The kiss was quick, Lena pulling away as soon as she’d realised what she was doing.
She hadn’t given herself time to assess Kara’s reaction, had just left with a quick, “goodnight, Kara.”
She’d texted Kara when she’d gotten home. A simple message, home safe, sleep well xx.
She didn’t mention the kiss.
And now Kara’s going to be here for lunch soon and Lena doesn’t know what to do. She knows they need to talk about it, knows she needs to apologise for overstepping, and wants to do it in person. Part of her wants to cancel, to hide, to hope time will make her best friend forget, but that’s not fair to either of them.
Lena’s heart is pounding in her chest when Kara steps into her office.
She’s ready for awkwardness. Ready for a conversation about how Kara doesn’t feel the same. Ready for something.
But nothing happens, Kara steps into the office, grin on her face as she holds up Big Belly Burger and Lena finds herself relaxing, just a little, under Kara’s bright smile.
Lunch is completely normal. Normal conversation, normal Kara inhaling more food than should be possible, normal sitting too close on Lena’s couch as they chat.
When it’s time for Kara to leave, and neither of them have said anything, Lena knows she has to.
“I kissed you.”
She hadn’t meant to start like that.
Kara freezes. “I know, I…was there.”
Lena swallows. “Shouldn’t we talk about it?”
Kara nods. “We should. Your heart has been racing this all lunch, I wanted to wait until you were more comfortable to bring it up.”
Lena’s cheeks heat. “Oh.”
Kara reaches out, places her hand over Lena’s. “We can talk now if you want, or we can wait, whatever you’re comfortable with.”
“You’re talking about my comfort when I should apologise. I didn’t mean to kiss you like that, without your consent. I’m sorry if I made you uncomfortable.”
Kara shakes her head. “Was I surprised? Yes. Uncomfortable? Definitely not. I was a little sad when you left immediately, I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it since you kissed me.”
This is the exact opposite for how Lena thought this conversation might go. She never once thought that Kara might have been okay with the kiss.
“And,” Kara’s thumb soothes over the back of her hand. “If you’re not opposed to it, I’d very much like to kiss you again.”
“You want to kiss me?” Lena asks, heart beating rapidly in her chest, but for a different reason this time.
“More than anything.”
This time when Lena leans in, Kara meets her halfway. She’s expecting warm lips against hers, but it still doesn’t prepare Lena for just how good, how right, it feels to kiss Kara.
Fingers tangle in Lena’s hair and then Kara is tugging her closer and Lena’s mind can focus on nothing but the feel of Kara against her.
(Lena finds out later, after Jess interrupts them to tell Lena she has a meeting, that Kara would never have had the courage to say anything if Lena hadn’t made the first move.
She asks Kara on a date for that very evening.
Lena finds out after that that their relationship doesn’t actually change that much, because apparently they’d already been acting like a couple anyway, except now there’s a lot more kissing).
