Two-Time Indiana Horse of the Year Lady Fog Horn Retired
Graded stakes winner, double Indiana Horse of the Year, and all-time leading Indiana-bred earner Lady Fog Horn has been retired. She retires sound with her final race a win. “It was a great journey with her and I’m very appreciative that Stuart (Grant) gave me the opportunity to train her.”, said Tony Granitz, Lady Fog Horn’s trainer.
The five-year-old bay mare won seven stakes races during her career, with her most notable win coming in the Gr.II Falls City Handicap at Churchill Downs during her four-year-old season. She won the Florence Henderson Stakes twice, the Frances Solcum Stakes twice, the Indiana First Lady Stakes (show above), and the Hoosier Breeders’ Sophomore Stakes. She also finished third in the Gr.II Cardinal Handicap. A turf runner, she raced at five different tracks, winning races at three of them. Lady Fog Horn was named Indiana Horse of the Year in 2015 and 2016 for her efforts. She was also named Indiana Champion Older Mare in 2016. She was unbeaten on Indiana turf.
The daughter of Zavata (out of Titia, by Northern Spur) retired with a record of 26: 14-4-4 with earnings of $824,273.
