It only takes a moment
This week I received an email from a student who worked for me two years ago. She was starting law school and felt thoughly prepared, more so than the anxious students around her. She wrote a few lines to me and to another professional she worked for.
She thanked us both for the roles we played in helping her feel prepared. Someday you will hear her name. Sheās exceptional. Sheās already won big national fellowships. She didnāt have to email us. We canāt benefit her anymore, but she did write to thank us. It was only a few lines, but the other professional and I have been cheered up all week.
It doesnāt really take much to make people feel great. So when people we admire in public life, in entertainment, donāt take those few minutes to make fans feel better, I donāt know what to make of it. I like to wait and see and try to understand the reasons why people do or donāt do something before I judge. So Iām trying not to judge, but itās very hard to see so many in this fandom suffering (yet again) without feeling this situation could have been handled better.
