I would say yes. I do have a favorite fanfic. It is of all things a legend of Zelda fanfiction.

It is called hit list.

It was written by an author Called zestycrouton on Fanficiton.net

It is a highly controversial story, which by all logic should not work. Having characters more inspired by their counterparts then simply ripping them and putting them into an au. They become their own characters. It is like a modern iteration of Zelda with stakes that rival the legends in a way that an action movie would.

It has the mystical world of Zelda put into a modern era. I want to say more but it is one of those Fics you need to read. It does have a lot of rather dark imagery. It is not for the faint of heart. It also came out in 2007. So It is an old fic. But damn did it age pretty damn well. It is a fine wine and if this was officially published as a book. It would be my favorite book. It starts out slow but when it picks up. IT REVS UP TO 11!.

The link to the story is (here.) I would honestly say that you could enjoy and appreciate it without even knowing much about LOZ, but it also has so much love and care that you know someone knew a lot about it.

The sequel to it is also pretty good, but it takes a much more mystical route and a lot less in my opinion, gripping.
