I am so incredibly unhinged over Tim Drake as a newer fan reading the comics because hes just.... so normal.
listen i love every headcanon, every shift in canon where he is pictured as something more or something else, but reading his story from the start gives you this image of Tim that i just cant and wont get out of my head, hes brilliant, charismatic but dorky, overly enthusiastic in his passions and has INSANE stalker tendencies and habits before during an after the big bat takes him in, but all in all what makes him special to me, is that hes just some dude.
sure, a rich dude, but he has no formidable or traumatic background, yes he has absent parents but against popular belief Jack and Janet do love their kid, he is literally just a scrawny teen who in very teen fashion doesnt realize the dangers he goes against, who rationalizes in the stupidest ways because hes driven by teenage emotions and angst oftentimes, and he had no assassin training, he wasnt a circus acrobat or a kid with a criminal past, hes just Tim.
hes a nerd, hes awkward, he falls asleep in class and is failing world history cause he is real, hes a real kid who juggles doing his homework before class cause he spent the night patrolling (and he tries napping in class in the front row cause hes an idiot, literally) and he fails and fucks up and hes not perfect and he gets mad, he gets sad and happy and id give the world for him cause hes just a kid and hes just like anyone else, and that makes him relatable in a way robin needed to be.
I see Tim as one of those kids that drink monster to collect the cans to diy a rifle, give it to him to make it a fully functional pellet gun to annoy the others, cmon hes just like one of those kids that were ugly and weird in middleschool and then got a growth spurt so now he got that weird hot kid rizz. i love him
