Naruto is my absolute babyboy, but my fuck, do I hate who he's become in Boruto, and I gotta hold him accountable.

(Like, the naruto antis are ppl I usually scoff at, but damn do they have points about this)

The reason most of us can't stand this show has nothing to do with something as silly as ships (or at least I hope not)(listen, actually, I could talk about how nh's and ss's relationships negatively affect Naruto and Sasuke, but ultimately, it's really not about that)

It's because it messes with both Naruto and Sasuke, their characters and their convictions. How the fuck did 17 year old Sasuke go from hating the system and all it upholds, from understanding that this shit isn't okay, to someone who is essentially a lapdog?? Um, no

And Naruto? Sweetheart, what happened to the promises to both your friends and enemies? Where did your desire to end the cycle of hatred go? Why are you okay with changing fundamentally nothing after promising that you'll turn everything around? Where did your numerous realizations about the faults of Konoha and the Shinobi world and the cycle of hatred go?

Like, I feel as though through the entirety of Naruto, we were constantly beaten over the head with the fact that nothing is okay about the current way of the world, and in the end, the goal was 'become Hokage to turn these things around' ?

And then Boruto comes, and holy shit, nothing has changed and Naruto has entirely forgotten everything his 17 year old's self had seen, promised and decided.

I feel like Boruto just entirely diminishes everything that happened in Shippuden, and that annoys me.

(All this said, I should clarify I have not watched Boruto nor do I intend to. These are just all things I've inferred through seeing clips here and there, and other people's takes on Boruto, so if I'm not getting something right, then oops) (the vast majority of the clips I've seen are sns moments, because somehow we're still getting fed even though they're both married and got kids 💀)

okay, I know it's Monday, I'm sorry but I wasn't feeling well yesterday. So here is a small snippet from part 1 of their argument lol

“What the fuck is this?” He waved the paper in front of him before dropping it on to the table between them. Buck’s eyes zeroed in on it and his face blanched before he looked back up at Eddie.

“Eds, it-it was nothing, it was no big deal,” he stammered, swallowing hard.

“Nothing? A CT scan and wound treatment?” Eddie’s heart hammered in his chest and the feeling of fragility from before was back. “That’s not nothing.”

“It was a small accident at work,” Buck tried to explain but Eddie could barely hear it. All he could picture was Buck lying in the ER, injured and alone. “Small bump to the head, the CT scan was just a precaution. It was barely even a concussion.”

“It was your head?” Eddie hissed out, the words getting stuck in his throat before they tumbled out. “That’s… That’s what was wrong with you a couple weeks ago, wasn’t it? You said you’d forgotten to duck through a low doorway.”

Buck at least looked sheepish.

“You lied to me, and I fucking believed you.”

“Eddie please-”

“No, Buck,” Eddie shook his head and waved his hand in dismissal. “Just, don’t.”

(Virgil frowns to himself. He doesn’t seem intent to answer, but you find yourself able to peer into his mind...)

(He retired from the ritual several minutes ago, while Annie is determined to sing until the candle’s light goes out. He stares at his reflection in the polished marble of the bathhouse floor, forcing down the memories it brings to his mind...)

(Only a faint, distorted image is allowed by the light of the candle, but it’s enough to see the general features of his face. His sharp teeth, miscolored eyes, and long hair. He remembers the first time he ever saw his reflection, and how similar he looks now to the man he was then. All this time, and he’s hardly changed.)

(He’s been stewing in his own thoughts ever since his fight with Roman, though it’s not because of anything Roman said. It’s all been piling up -- the familiar architecture, his unbleached teeth, his nightmares. They’ve been getting worse since that night he allowed himself to Reverie, and he can hardly keep himself awake anymore. Luckily, his mother has been able to subdue him when he tries to go on ‘patrol.’)

(Most recently, though, there was the realization that none of his new companions, except possibly for Logan, will remember their time here.)

(He supposes that's good, in some ways: He doesn’t want them to be pressed with the memory of his death, which they seem to take so seriously, nor their memories of the Hag’s torment. But, it also means Roman will forget all of the time they’d spent together.)

(Virgil tried to convince himself that he doesn’t care; He was high on healing magic at the time, being more vulnerable and honest with his affection then he’d like to have been, so of course he’d hope Roman magically forgets it all. A large, scared part of him wishes he had never told Roman anything in the first place!) 

(Virgil won’t have the energy or the courage to try it again, when Roman leaves the Faewild and forgets everything they’ve bonded over. Good. Fate has given him back the upper hand, erased the chip in is armor he hadn’t meant to show. It will be as if he had never slipped in the first place, and Roman never has to know anything about Virgil, or where he stands with him...)

(And yet, the pending victory feels hollow.)
