That sorta cute vampire had insisted on knowing how to find Buffy Summers, not because he wanted to off her, but because they were friends. She'd been skeptical of that. A vampire friends with a Slayer? What a weird place California was. Still, his assistance in LA had been invaluable. This Angel character seemed to break the mold. And it appeared he'd done her yet another favor, because at long last, Evelyn Phoenix had found Buffy Summers.

        ❝Oh my god. I can't believe I've finally found you. Angel might've given you a heads up about me, but just in case he didn't -- I'm Evelyn Phoenix, the Slayer from England.❞ An awkward statement given her American accent. ❝Not actually English though. Long story.❞

          "You better start explaining what the hell is going on," Marie snaps.

   These... things had come out of nowhere, and before she even had time to properly react, this girl had saved her.

"Darn your sock? Are you making another pass at me?" Because that was the lamest attempt ever. Usually he had came up with something better to say.

Okay, even he had to admit, that had just been lame, not to mention chauvinistic and weird. "Sorry," Spike mumbled, ducking his head and hurriedly stuffing his foot back into his boot.

"Well, aren't those socks from 1922?" Yeah, she was just going to ignore the name, not like it meant a whole lot coming from him, not to her. Casual banter was the best way to go with this.

"No," Spike scoffed, hiding the relief he inwardly felt. "I buy new socks every decade or so. A'course, I don't sweat or smell. They just wear out, or occasionally get acid demon blood spilt all over 'em. So, Slayer..." he grinned cheekily, "you gonna darn my sock or not?"

          “No. I’m fine.”        { She inhales a sharp breath, eyes flickering over to his, but very briefly. }            ”—Will you just sit here for a minute?              Wait until I get my wits together.”

      { He pauses, slightly surprised by her request, but ultimately nods, obliging. }

                          "Yeah, sure...

           What happened then?            Must've been a right nasty bugger."
