Sometimes More Is More
I did it. I separated this blog into two. Over the years two very distinct subject matters have emerged. Those relating to my personal life experience, drawing "lessons" from them and sharing, and then slap-dash political/social/cultural commentary. It occurred to me to separate them several weeks ago, as it would be easier to share each subject as I saw fit with different clients and partners. It would also allow me a more organized way to develop and flesh out essays based on subject, should I want to pitch them to editors or publishers. At first the idea was just one more thing to add to a never ending list of next action steps to reach my ultimate goal of being a paid ass writer. Then something incredible happened. An aspiring producer contacted me and wanted to talk about participating in a project she's developing. At that point a fire lit under my ass and I hustled over one weekend to create my cultural commentary blog: itsaculturething.com I'm super proud of it. I shelled out $50 for the template and think it looks great, and most importantly is simple enough not to need to be updated soon (the template, not the posts themselves. They will be updated!). I copied relevant posts from here to there and voila. I plan to go back to my old blogger account when I have the time and see if there are more posts I can copy over that didn't make it to Tumblr. From now on, this blog, which admittedly I keep relatively on the DL because of its personal nature, will be relegated to my little life-lesson-musings. While all topics concerning society at large will be over on "It's A Culture Thing" Enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
