So, here’s an interesting idea: peace and joy are not only enjoyable, they are necessary and part of what it means to be alive. Maybe what represents happiness for you looks funny to someone else, and that’s fine. Don’t let that stop you. Practice cultivating happiness when and where you can, and don’t be afraid to look for joy in new places and by doing new things. See what comes up when you try. It’s also important to check in with your family (of birth or choice or both) and let yourself rest in and on traditions. Ask your Ancestors for answers if you’re having an issue or problem. They probably went through something similar during Their human lives and might have some insight that can help you, and even if They don’t, sometimes just unburdening yourself of your worries can be useful. If your direct ancestors don’t feel safe to you, call on the Great Mother. Ask Her to hear your prayers and then talk to Her. She is our ancient human mother and mother to us all for at least 140,000 years and countless generations, so I’m pretty sure She’s heard it all before. So talk to Her. Reach out to Spirit. Often on a Thursday, you can find me scrolling through old photos and looking for a picture to post for #throwbackthursday. Some weeks it makes me happy reliving old memories and some weeks, like this week, it conjures up some #momguilt and insecurities. Am I really doing the best for my son? Is it enough? Then I come across a photo like this one and all I can do is smile and know, it's all going to be ok. This kid has a heart of gold, knows the value of family and friendship and just seems to always have a knack for making laugh just when I need it the most.
