The Amad of Balin and Dwalin… hmm… Amad Fundin?(The Fundin couple) It sounds rough. I imagined her with a bit of a bear-like look.

Dani Moonstar is called up by Hela who gives her a task as a Valkyrie. Hela explains that Asgard (located at Oklahoma on Earth) is under Siege by Osborn's army and Dani’s job is to escort the souls of the dead gods to her. Dani is reluctant, fearing Hela is planning some awful scheme. When she reaches Asgard, she quickly finds the Asgardian souls, led by the war god Tyr. When the Valkyries ask her to join them fighting off Osborn's army, she tells the souls to wait for her as nothing bad can happen to them anymore. However, when she is gone, horrible soul-eating monsters, the Disir, attack and devour several of the Asgardian souls, despite Tyr’s attempt to protect them. As she realizes what is happening, Dani returns and chases away the Disir, but too late for some of the souls. She tells Tyr that he is wounded but still alive and has him rejoin the living. She then brings the remaining souls to Hela, ashamed that she was wrong and Hela was actually trying to save them. Then, Dani leaves Hel as she receives a call from the worried Sam Guthrie.

shoutout to Olwyn the last of the Shieldmaidens from War of the Rohirrim, who I recognized as a shieldmaiden a long time before it was revealed and actually before shieldmaidens were even mentioned, not bc I had any knowledge of this story, not just bc she acts/stands/talks like a shieldmaiden (though she does), but because
"-hEY I KNOW YOU-"
(also because she was the only person to have Basic Common Sense right out the gate. never have I chosen a favorite character so fast)

Norsery Rhymes from A to Z Garmangabis, The Rich Giving
Happy Thor’s Day, here's another 20 min sketch of a Norse or Germanic, or Celtic mythological characters. This week it’s Garmangabis / Garmangabi / Germangabis / Eormangafi. A Goddess worshiped at an alter in Longovicium, now Lanchester, Co. Durham, mentioned alongside "Divine spirit of Gordianus our Lord". And in Suebi in Germany.
Her name translated from rom Old English to “vast” or "rich" from 'eormen', and “giving” from 'gife'.
One of the Disir and Dísablót, her worship was either brought by Germans in the Roman army back from England, or brought from Germany to England. She was likely a goddess related providing bountiful food and wealth to her people.
A lowkey offering to my queer ancestors and heroes. 🥰

🌸 Dísablót & Imbolc 🌸
Happy Imbolc to all who celebrate! This holiday marks the mid-point between the winter solstice and spring equinox. I observe Dísablót at this time, and I’m so excited to formally celebrate it this year! Some of my cost effective/minimal effort celebration ideas include:
— lighting candles to represent mini bonfires welcoming in the light, warmth, and rebirth of spring
— styling my altar with images of the goddesses I work with most closely, the Nornir, the Valkyrir, my female ancestors, and any female figures who inspire me
— bake small cakes or biscuits as a symbol of the coming planting season and it’s bounty
— offering tea (awareness in present moment), flowers (requesting good favor and health), salt (purification, taste), one of the cakes made, and some crystals on my altar. The flowers and/or crystals set on the altar convey a meaning of their own and can be chosen according to your goals for the year! (If you work closely with Hel, you may wish to let your flowers wither on your altar to symbolize death and rebirth, a natural process of life)
— making a list of some of my goals for the year, especially in light of how I may or may not have gotten a start on those goals throughout January
— you can even make four holes in your garden, corresponding to the four cardinal directions, and place a cake in each to ask the Dísir to bless the planting season
— additionally, you can anoint your plow or garden tools with oil and cinnamon (consider wearing gloves) for a successful season
— little straw dolls are commonly made during Imbolc to represent the goddess Brigid. Straw decorations or dolls would make a wonderful offering for any pagan celebrating the coming spring!
I hope you all enjoy the holiday, and I would love to see a few images if anyone is setting up their altar in a new way!
