No, but two trespassers have seemingly free climbed the Empire State Building spire, flying a banner reading “when the power of love beats the love of power the world knows peace” right before they got engaged.
The climbers are believed to be Angela Nikolau and Ivan Beerkus, both famous for scaling some of the worlds tallest buildings, often without any safety restraints, and were previously featured in the Netflix documentary “Skywalkers: A Love Story”, detailing how the fell in love through their neoartistic pieces and scaling heights.

NEW YORK – Two masked climbers scaled the Empire State Building on July 1 , 2026 to share a message of love from the top of the iconic New York City skyscraper.
Ivan Beerkus and Angela Nikolau scaled the tip of the Empire State Building Wednesday to share a message – and apparently, a proposal. Two people were captured on camera atop the nearly 1,500-foot-tall structure on July 1, where they clung to the building's spire to unfurl a banner reading, "When the power of love beats the love of power the world knows peace."
The climbers self-identified on social media as Russian couple Ivan Beerkus and Angela Nikolau. The daredevil couple was the subject of the 2024 documentary “Skywalkers: A Love Story.”
Angela Nikolau (born 24 June 1993) is a Russian rooftopper and artist who gained recognition due to her unusual photographs taken on the roofs of skyscrapers

bonus:
FINALLY i opened up my phone to GOOD news. a rooftopping couple who often do illegal climbs of skyscrapers, climbed atop the Empire State Building with a call for peace and got fucking engaged. their names are Angela Nikolau and Ivan Beerkus.
Their message to all of us:
"When the power of love beats the love of power, the world knows peace."
taking "do whatever you want forever" to the max. the defiance of social norms surrounding behavioral conformity and passivity. their all black attire and masks. the fucking power pose at the top of the empire state. gazing down at an entire city of people who works themselves to death on the streets and in corporate offices.
their message is simple. our connections to each other matter more than any position of power and control. the only thing that will save us is each other.
between this and the patriot games it really feels like we're in a hunger games timeline or something. but. i'll never complain about rebels showing themselves. even if all their message ends up "doing" is giving people hope and inspiration, that's the point.
they took a risk. they did it out of passion for what they do and their love for each other. i dont care if they're not the leaders we want to see. they're people living at the same time as us, who used their voice.
any of us can do the exact same thing. we could go to the cities near us right now, do something crazy, and send a message. obviously it takes a lot more planning and social support to pull it off, but.
like most people. they got arrested for this, with multiple serious charges. its ok if you cant take that risk right now. id rather people stay alive first. you're too valuable to this world to lose, and you deserve a fighting chance.
idk man. To Love. To Life. To a Future for Us All. as an avid book reader this feels like the Writer giving us some foreshadowing on what's to come. we can still win.
