10 months ago today, a faulty power line destroyed our home. We are homeless and live every day without any of the every day things (clothes, shoes, pictures, dishes, towels, pictures, etc.) that make up all of our lives, our daily routines and rituals and help enable us to be who we are in this world every day. I wake up most every night reliving the panicked running from the house as the walls lit up and exploded around us, but I know we are lucky - because we are alive. That's therapy. I have to write that out and say it out loud every day so I don't lose sight of the very real fact that similar events have no shit, for real killed people. Some days it's really fucking hard to keep that in mind and be grateful. Today is one of those days. But we are fortunate. Emotionally, I'm not always firm on the point, but intellectually I know it's true. We have a place to stay. We have food to eat. Hello all. Just wanted to give a quick update on my latest flare. Since Jan 2, 2017 I've been to the ER twice (went a 3rd but had to leave before I could be seen because my symptoms were too painful to sit in the ER waiting room for more than the 2 hours I had already waited). I've had two full blown episodes of full body swelling and am currently in the middle of one of those episodes. I've had severe GI problems- stomach pain and cramping after eating, constipation, diarrhea, stomach bloating, abdominal distention, nausea and vomiting, and lack of appetite. I've had urinary problems resulting in Urine retention, swelling of the urethra, lack of emptying even when cathing. My GI doc was concerned about Angioedema so she ordered tests for that. I went to see my PCP on Friday and she ordered a CBC and a few other labs as well. All results are in and the only abnormal results were a high WBC count and high neutrophils. My C1 and C4 levels were normal which should rule out any Angioedema (but not necessarily), however my C4 levels were on the very low side of normal possibly indicating some other sort of autoimmune disorder of some sort. Right now I am still miserable. Swelling everywhere. I can feel the heat inside me from the increases WBC levels. My left side is more swollen than the right and I have a constant headache and pain down the left side of my neck. My BP and heart rate are normal, and everything else appears to be normal, but I have no idea where this swelling/infection is coming from. Since the labs didn't come back until this morning I will have to wait until tomorrow to discuss anything with any of my doctors. I assume they will want to run some more tests. I am leaning toward something to do with the GI system.
