In my explorations of ancient folklore and myths within my work, I have yet to revive a tale well known to me from Guatemalan Tzutujil Mayan. This is a sketch of a princess named Ixmucane who was given a special gift from the Sun God which would allow her to solve any problem a human could worry about. Muneca Quitapenas, also known as worry dolls, originated from this Guatemalan legend. My parents bring from Guatemala, I am fond of and very familar with worry dolls so exploring this tale in my art has been a treat.
