2025 BEST ART
My best piece of art from each month this year! (Excluding the two I can't share yet...)
A couple of these were the only piece of art that month, which is fascinating to me. Still, here they are!
Rambles under the cut:
Free freer free submission!
Auran! My guy!
Traditional art of my OC, Auran, abused prince in my upcoming* novel 'Through Scale and Sorrow'
Free freer free, as with a surprising number of Sparkbird songs, really fits this guy, so I decided to do my submission for this Sparkbird showcase on him. And with Wifi cutting out constantly and nothing much to do in the evenings without it, I ended up making this watercolour!
*'upcoming', aka, may be released in this decade if I'm lucky
No Convex here
Ursai and Scarryn! See, no resemblence to Convex!
Ursai looks nothing like Scar-
Nah, these are my shady merchant besties, breaking the law for magical deities (dragons), and assisting the protagonists with dragon knowledge, delivering information, and selling contraband.
Ursai Starchaser (he/they) is basically a mothfolk, who hides it to avoid the meanie people, and Scarryn Everflower (they/them) controls plants (and keeps back the evil fungus that is stealing their best buddy)
Silly Game Time: Who are the characters you like best from two stories you really enjoy (of any genre of any medium—novel, comic, movie, show, podcast, game, etc. including OCs if you like)?
AND, if they were being held against their will (think like a "Guards! Seize them!" scenario), which would be the first to resort to biting?
Todd from Bojack Horseman. No hesitation. Probably thinks your hand is food.
Petyr Baelish/Littlefinger from GoT. Higher up the list of options than you'd think, but probably controls the guards capturing him because that guy controls everything, so wouldn't have to.
(also gonna rank my OC protags on a scale of least to most likely to bite because yippeee character building)
7th: Auran. He's too royal for this. Would only bite if he was told to, and absolutely certain he had no other options. Will scream though.
6th: Cayran. The guy is a royal guard. But he would if he has no other options
5th: Storm. He's like a dog to me. Might bite if scared.
4th: Ivy. SO unwillingly, but she would in an instant if it was an emergency. Or when she's getting crazy devout.
3rd: Amethyst. Maybe not normally, but you touch her best friends and she's going feral and bitey
2nd: Dustfur. Somehow the half-lion didn't win, even though they would bite immediately
1st: Azalin. They bite everything. Your arm is included in this list, regardless of if they're being held back or not
Silly Game Time: Let's make up a dumb, new holiday. What should people celebrate today from now on, and what name should we give this holiday?
*Pulls up list of holidays from my fantasy world*
There's a festival in one land called 'Howl' which is celebrating the national animal, some wolf-like creature, by just making a shit ton of noise in the evening, howling and banging pots and playing musical instruments.
That would be very fun.
I want Howl to be a real festival
(There's also another neighboring kingdom that hears it every year and just ended up howling back at them because of political rivalry)
Silly Game Time: It turns out that you are the Avatar, the only person capable of bending all four elements (Water, Earth, Fire, and Air). You'll master them all eventually, of course. But which of them will you choose first?
Yaaaay! Magic time! I don't know how magic works in the Avatar world, but Earth feels safest as a starting point.
Additionally, as a writer of an elemental magic system, I'd probably choose florai - plants - to master first of those ones
