About that #asymmetrical skirt you all liked so much. I guess I decided to let it be. #stylearc #izzytop loving this matte jersey from @sewmuchfabric #isewmyownclothes #sewingismytherapy #whatnext #fiftyandfabulous #alldressedup www.sewtofit.com
Woah! Its been quite some time since I last wrote on this blog... Too many reasons(excuses) not to keep up with it.
Lately I've been working in so many projects at a time is hard to keep up. Today, I should be out running or at the boxing gym(I am paying for it after all). Instead I stayed home to sew a nice MLP Izzy top for my awesome girl. She has class pictures tomorrow and I wanted to make something special!
I did run into some problems while trying to put this top together. First I was transferring the pattern to the fabric while watching some TV, not the right thing to do at this point. I only noticed a problem when it came time to sew the top part of the shirt. The lining and the main fabric did not match at all. Cut them both wrong size using the same pattern. How ever did that happen?
Seriosly I must have not been paying any attention to what I was doing durring the transfer. But I did figure out a way to fix it! All I did was to sew extra fabric to the lining and cut to match the main fabric (even tho the one that was cut wrong from the start was the MF). This fixed my problem immediately.
Now, I've had a sewing machine since 2012 but just recently did I start to really make dresses and such. I know, it had up until now, been a big expensive paper weight. I'm learning as I go and I'm glad that the internet has so many free patterns :).
This one Izzy Top was made by Terri Olson from Climbing the Willow. The pattern can be found here in her blog. Go check out her blog as she has many free patterns with great tutorials!
Now for the big reveal! This is what the top ended up looking like. I'm definitely proud of myself in completing this! I did make a minor adjustment. Because I cut the back pieces too narrow. I decided to scrap the button closure and put ribbon instead! I hope you guys like it.
