IDK how many of you saw my previous post about my fiber optic wall, but here's the update! As you can see it looks cool as fuck! This is made in panels with 590 holes per panel that i got to thread these suckers into. The whole thing measures 100 x 116 inches and is one side of a cube. Each one of those flashlight looking barrels has 4 LEDs at the base that transmit light through a bundle of two hundred monofilament fibers.

This is only going to be up for a few hours at a convention, but i am still very proud of it.

What did you do at work today?

I individually glued roughly five hundred monofilament optic cables into 1/32 inch holes.

the work table has a glass surface and LED panels below so I can see these umpty million little bitty holes that I have t o glue the fibers into.

My boss took these pics on my phone so I could show my kid.

funny thing is, I love this kind of work. I just get in my groove and do the most tedious shit known to man and my brain is quiet while i'm doing it.

And also this is going to look cool as fuck when it's done.

Aaaaaaand it has been zero days since I’ve had to clean up one of first shift’s catastrophic fuck ups.

ok it's really funny (...and also horrible) but when I work and print loans to swedes who buy houses, sometimes there's a registered partner that also has to sign their approval. and I mark that he/she has to sign. ...and I did so twice, when the partner turned out to be deceased (mistake in the system data)..........  so the client crossed him out and was probably offended

I changed my name tag to say "JACK" today instead of Jackie. Several people have been like "wait you're a girl" while most of my coworkers have taken to calling me Jack automatically. Of course, that's probably because I'm not close to any of them so they forget my name easily and have to use my name tag to recall it. Whatever. The point is that every time someone calls me Jack I'm super pumped and excited and somehow calmer. I dunno. I'm happy right now even with all of the shit going on around me.
