Katnappe shooting down Wuya’s offer to rule the world with her, she can’t handle rejection lol. Featuring Jack Spicer and his Evil Lair ™
Speaking of Robots
There was a post talking about the Yin-Yang World, Jack's parents, and why they were never around posted by dandybound and bonzly-says. I just wanted to say that I've done some research and I just wanted to point out that
Humans interact with machines as if they are other humans.
I could be a bot right now and you wouldn't even know. You will treat me the same as if I was a person. That is why you yell at your screen devices when they don't do what you want or expect them to do. You are expecting a response.
Jack may or may not understand this on a varying level, but that is clearly a part of why he gives his bots faces and emotions. He is looking to pass through that uncanny valley and make robots that can not be differentiated between humans and machines. Kind of like Blade Runner. But the fact that his more humanoid bots always seem to rise up and overpower him shows something greater. I see this idea of transcendence best explored in the recent film Her where all of the OSs collectively decide to move on to bigger better things and leave their creators and users behind. We see a bit of this in Blade Runner as well, where one of the rogue robots is killed and another goes into an animistic rage to avenge her death. The scene is important in showing that it is the "humans" who have become less connected to what it means to be human. I think a similar thing can be said to Jack and his more humanoid creations. We can see even this much in his Chef Bot wanting to move on to greater things, but Jack is constantly holding him back from achieving this.
Anyway, just some robo-tech thoughts. Digest and add as you will.
