playboyy anniversary - week 4 - favourite romantic relationships
It's so interesting what the most watched Videos on my Channel are....
I would like to address the conversation going on around Playboyy The Series and the "lack of plot" seemingly presented since its inception (promo). I feel like a huge point is being missed by the general consumers of BL that I, as a queer woman, would like to draw attention to. Sex in queer communities, while ultimately being a form of pleasure, has also been a form of protest. There are still countries in which same sex intercourse is illegal and, in some cases, is punishable by death. Media's response to queers only being palatable to straight people when they viewed them as not being fully functioning human beings who partake in sex (aka taking away their autonomy) were shows like Queer As Folk and The L Word. I know QAF has been in discussion frequently with the rise of more risqué BL like Love In The Air, KinnPorsche, and Only Friends. However, Playboyy The Series is much truer to that era of media in unapologetically portraying queer intimacy more explicitly to remind straight people that we are fully human and with that should come the human right to have sex without being surveilled and reprimanded, to have marriage equality because queer people can also view physically intimacy as an act of love just like straight people, to have access to all basic human rights, because we are REAL! I understand if explicit sex isn't your thing, if cutesy plots are more of your style, but to condemn Playboyy The Series for being "plotless" in this scenario seems unfair to me. Sex is the protest, therefore sex is the main plot device in the show to lead us through the plot because it's a huge part of humanity and queers are human period.

Jack doesn't need to hesitate when he sees his youngest cousin stacking supplies into the bed of a truck. It stirs a quick chuckle to himself before he closes the distance and taps against the vehicle to get Elliot's attention. "You helping load up for someone?" he questions, assuming that it's his right as council member but of course there's something deeper at play. As there often is with Jack and his cousins, despite his constant teachings to Sophia about how revenge and bitterness can be a person's downfall. "Because if it's not..." he clicks his tongue, a calm pretense of finding it difficult to give the order, when it isn't at all. "That bar isn't finished and all of you have been told. It was made pretty clear, no runs out until it is."
There was a lot you could get away with, when you’re the heir to the throne. Even though it felt as if all eyes were on him at all times, Jack was a grown man. Despite being under the rule of his widowed mother, also known as the Queen of Silaun... he did what he wanted to. Yes, this meant a lot of sneaking around and white lies every now and then. But it was what made Jack, Jack. And if he could have it any other way... boy, would he.
They had held a ball this evening, and as soon as he saw the night coming to an end, Jack had snuck out to be with his friends. Some were staff within the home, some were colleagues, and others were just situational companions. he had no intentions that night, but by the time he was stumbling home, he was just a bit inebriated. It was dark, the only light illuminating the room coming from a single candle in the corner, that someone had maybe forgotten to blow out. Closing the door behind him, he squints, looking around for something he could have as a late night snack.
