Why are there no supervillians in The Incredibles?
The Incredibles is a wonderful franchise and I love it to death, but I have real problems believeing that every single Super in the entire world was a hero. The only villains we’ve seen thus far in the cinematic universe (Syndrome, the Underminer, Screenslaver, Bomb Voyage) all had inventions to compensate real superpowers, we’ve never ONCE seen an actual supervillain. I mean, it makes sense for the plot, being that the US government really couldn’t make Supers illegal with supervillains running around (as they wouldn’t abide to the rules and the police force, army, etc. would be ill-suited to deal with them) but why don’t we see any villains with powers?
It’s the whole Batman/Joker struggle, there has to be one for the justification of the other existing. All of the Supers could be held accountable for “extreme use of force” because Mr. Incredible should not be fighting bank robbers. It’s like putting a trained Marine up against a white belt in karate. And don’t get me wrong, all the villains listed above are definitely worthy adversaries worth the heroes pitted against them, but in the end, their just humans. It’s just unrealistic to think that every single person born with powers somehow has such a strong moral compass that they would all be heroes, though it does bring a darker, more eerie question to light, like what could have possibly happened to those wrongly aligned??
