Nov 18 at Human Relations 1067 Flushing Ave. NY ~ Andrea Abi-Karam is an arab-american genderqueer punk poet-performer cyborg, writing on the art of killing bros, the intricacies of cyborg bodies, trauma & delayed healing. Their chapbook, THE AFTERMATH (Commune Editions, 2016), attempts to queer Fanon's vision of how poetry fails to inspire revolution. Simone White selected their second assemblage, Villainy for forthcoming publication with Les Figues. They toured with Sister Spit March2018 & are hype to live in New York. EXTRATRANSMISSION [Kelsey Street Press, 2019] is their first book Jackqueline Frost is a poet in the pan-american proletarian tradition and a marxist intellectual historian of atlantic world anti-colonial culture. She is the author of The Antidote (Compline Editions), You Have the Eyes of a Martyr (O’clock Press), and Young Americans (Solar Luxuriance). Her most recent book, The Third Event: Pt. 1 & 2, is out in November from Tipped Press in the UK. She lives in Paris Christina Chalmers is a poet and filmmaker from Edinburgh, Scotland who resides in NYC. She writes about philosophies of praxis and translates from italian and portuguese. Her chapbooks Work Songs (Shit Valley, 2013) and Willingness (Materials, 2016) use poems as personal thresholds of release and tension. Her film 'Notes on Capture' (2018) is playing at festivals. She is making a film about evacuations and writing a longer poem about counter-revolutionary utopias

Friday 10th November 2017 50 George Square, Edinburgh EH8 9LH A poetry reading, with words from Jackqueline Frost, Ziddy Sharma and Sarah Bernstein. Jackqueline Frost is a poet, intellectual historian and anti-racist feminist hailing from the créolophone deep south of the Unites States. She is the author of The Antidote (Compline, 2013) and several chapbooks including You Have the Eyes of a Martyr (O’clock, 2014) and Young Americans (Solar Luxuriance, 2014 and Defector, 2015). Jackqueline is currently writing a doctoral dissertation on anti-colonial philosophies of time and history, and in based in Paris, France. Azad Ashim Sharma lives in South London. Against the Frame (Barque Press) is his first publication, and it engages with the on-going conflicts in Syria, Iraq, and Afghanistan, as well as Azad's own complex Islamic-Hindu hybrid identity. Sarah Bernstein is from Montreal and lives in Edinburgh, where she teaches English Lit. Her writing has appeared in publications like tender, Contemporary Women's Writing, The Malahat Review and Lemon Hound. Her first book Now Comes the Lightning is published by Pedlar Press. The reading will be held in Lecture Theatre G.03, 50 George Square. 7.15 for a 7.30pm start, free. Wheelchair accessible, hearing induction loop.
