Compared to most other characters, he actually got quite a lot of "development" through the show + TBOBF?? but, his end, and the lack of any acknowledgement of him in the finale....gosh I just felt so empty ;_; He's a character we've known for 4 seasons (counting TBOBF), he really deserved better.

It's not that she'd never expected to hear from Leia again. She and Boba are effective—terribly effective, as Leia would say—and if they make it long enough it'd only make sense to subcontract for the senate. Clean out some of the hutts still clinging on in their section of the Outer Rim and raise spice taxes once they've got a monopoly. It's a good plan. A long game. The sort of thing Fennec has always excelled at.

But then Leia shows up in her smuggler boyfriend's crappy ship and she's wearing a poncho three sizes too big even though it's pushing 55 out and Fennec has never claimed to be a genius, but she's been around enough to know what's going on.

"I'm not a mother," Fennec says, once they're down deep in the stronghold where the droids don't go and the air is cool and stale.

Leia looks angry when she says that—like it's Fennec's problem, like she shouldn't have fucked her if she hadn't wanted a kid out of it. Rich.

"I don't know what you expect me to do about it," Leia retorts. She's looking for a fight. And maybe that's why she likes that smuggler of hers—he'll always give her a fight, let her argue until she's forgotten what she's worried about.

Fennec stays silent.

Leia stares at her for a second—not a glare, something angrier. More bitter. She opens her mouth, and—

"I am," Boba says. "I could be its father. I would take the child."

Fennec turns to him. "Out here? On Tatooine? It'd be dead in a day."

"I'm a Mandalorian," he replies, as if that answers anything. Maybe for him it does.

Boba turns to Leia, and she looks up at him, unreadable. "Yes. I would be its father."

Leia presses her lips together. Her eyes aren't wet—Fennec doubts she's ever been a crier—but they could have been, maybe. If Leia were a little less cruel. If she were a little less desperate to come out on top. But she'd never have come to Tatooine then, so it doesn't really matter.

"You'd take the child," Leia repeats. "And raise it here."

"It would never need to know who its mother was."

"And if it's not yours?" Leia asks.

Boba looks at her for a moment, silent. "I am a Mandalorian. It will be mine."

"And I would leave it," Leia says. Her eyes are black. "We could never see each other."

"It would be loved. It would be raised well." Boba looks at her a moment longer, and the hard lines around his eyes soften just a little. "What other choice do you have?"

"You could terminate it," Fennec cuts in.

"Thank you, Ms. Shand, for that novel piece of brilliance," Leia bites back, acid-sharp. "We should thank our lucky stars we have your intellect here to save us."

Fennec looks back at her flatly, unimpressed, and watches as something in Leia snaps.

She turns to Boba, straight backed, braids like a crown around her head. "It's yours," Leia says. Her voice doesn't waver even a little. "When I have it, the baby is yours."

Zukki and in-laws

firstly this is a fantastic prompt, i had so much fun with this! thank you!

hakoda adopted suki and zuko long before they ever married sokka. he loves them so much and would protect them with his life. he has the best working relationship with zuko because he knows when and how to rein zuko in and how to have good, productive discussion with him to benefit both nations. is occasionally coerced into things for them by sokka saying 'remember when suki and zuko risked their lives to save you at the boiling rock? not that it matters, i'm just saying'. suki calls him dadkoda unironically. she reminds him of kya.

bato, kanna, katara, iroh, azula, kiyi, the kyoshi warriors and kyoshi herself under the cut!

bato to suki "oh dear, oh dear, gorgeous!". bato to zuko "you fucking donkey!" bato loves zuko really (he's so endearingly awkward, how could bato not like him) it's just more fun to bully him. bato and suki are constantly suffering about how dumb hakoda and sokka's jokes are but how much they love them anyway. he begrudgingly loves going for hunts with sokka and suki and he taught zuko to ice fish. (bato and zuko trans buddies? bato and zuko trans buddies).

kanna loves suki for being the one to beat some goddamn respect into her grandson - and also for being a badass warrior who isn't afraid to help out with more traditionally feminine past times/chores. she takes a while to warm (lol) to zuko for obvious reasons, but she can tell that he a) loves her grandson and b) is genuinely trying his best to repair the world. sometimes they sit together in silence while he reads and she knits/sews. she always gives them so much food and makes sure they're dressed warmly.

katara loves being officially sisters with suki, hates being related to zuko by law but uses her little sister privileges to annoy him all the time. she shovel-talked sokka on suki and zuko's behalf but mostly because she knows that suki and zuko already knew that she'd kill them if they tried anything <3. suki and zuko are the best in laws because they are nice, smart (apart from liking sokka, widely regarded as stupider than chasing the avatar) and also will spar with her whenever she wants. the three of them gang up to tease sokka all the time.

iroh LOVES sokka and suki. he's happy that his nephew has found people who love him so deeply but the real joy comes from pai sho matches with sokka and tea dates with suki. sokka reminds iroh a lot of lu ten and they make snarky comments about pakku in white lotus meetings. suki makes him atone for his war crimes. iroh often says 'zuko, why cant you be more like your spouses?' but in a loving way.

azula really bonded with sokka and suki during her time in rehab - sokka would read or play pai sho with her so they could hang out without talking and suki would spar with azula which was always very fun. one time she snorted at one of sokka's jokes and he never lets her forget it. learned to kyoshi fight from suki and looked bomb wearing the outfit for real. she always says sokka and suki could both do better than her dumbass older brother but she is secretly very happy for the three of them and looks up to their relationship.

kiyi thought zuko was the coolest person in the world until she met sokka and suki. she truly believes that suki is the prettiest person in the whole world and wants to be a kyoshi warrior when she grows up! she honestly think sokka is hilarious and loves all the things he invents and buys for her! also loves to do art with sokka because she's better than him. she is extremely spoiled by all three of them to be honest.

the kyoshi warriors are always down to both beat and roast the fuck out of their brothers-in-law but they love both sokka and zuko very very much. mostly they love how happy the boys have made suki. they think sokka is extremely funny much to suki's chargrin. they tease zuko every time they guard him but he still prefers them to any fire nation guards. sometimes the warriors swap head gear to try and trick sokka and zuko up but the boys can usually tell (suki yells at them for this).

avatar kyoshi considers suki her daughter and once possessed aang just to shovel talk zuko and sokka (he was trying himself, but it's aang. he loves them. it wasn't very threatening). being threatened by kyoshi was 'equal parts exhilarating and terrifying' according to sokka. she does like them a lot though - she thinks they are fun and nice and they are good friends to aang and good husbands to suki which is all that really matters to her. she thinks sokka should wear his kyoshi uniform more often.

Sorry, but I'm in none of these fandoms. I also didn't reblog a prompt list recently? You're probably referring to this prompt list but I made that more than three years ago so, ah, I'm not taking any prompts from that anymore; sorry again!

I'm replying to this publicily so my followers can also see that I'm not taking any writing prompts atm!

Both fives and echo (pre or post citadel?) Join the bad batch

hmm, i couldn’t picture echo joining the bad batch prior to the citadel, nor under any conditions that removes from the context through which he became one of the group in canon.

as “defective” clones, the members of the bad batch are the odd ones out among their kin. i find it important that they have their own space where they get to define what’s “normal,” so I wouldn’t want to insert a character in their dynamic if that would take that space away from them. they wouldn’t be happy about that.

after all, the bad batch invite echo into their ranks because they recognize that he isn’t a “regular” clone anymore, despite being born as one. additionally, i do think that the context under which the bad batch meet echo for the first time uniquely shapes their relationship with him.

echo is this man they’ve only just learned about, quite briefly, who they believe is most likely dead (i really think the main reason hunter agreed to the mission was to keep rex safe, possibly on cody’s behalf) and here they find him alive in this horrific situation, disoriented and vulnerable. but as soon as he can, echo rebounds from that, cracking jokes. you can see wrecker attentively looking at echo in the background of that scene, breaking a soft smile at echo’s unexpected good humour and resilience. wrecker is so clearly feeling for him, and when he sets the explosives in the stasis chamber, it’s like he’s seeking justice for echo. later, when fighting the techno union droids at the poltec village, we see crosshair also being compassionate towards echo, gently patting his shoulder in what’s meant as a reassuring gesture. given all this, i find it more interesting to expand on these new relationships than re-imagine the circumstances under which echo joins them.  

okay, so i wouldn’t change anything to how echo joins the bad batch. but what about fives? well i have this little au i’ve been toying with (which i’ve talked about here and here) that explain the circumstances of fives death to have been carefully engineered by palpatine to have rex and anakin as witnesses. successfully dead to the wold, palpatine resurrects fives (because you cannot tell me he doesn’t have that ability), seeing promise in his intellect and latent ability with the force (i hc force sensitivity as coming in two main “flavours”: “intrinsic force” (relying on high medichlorian count) and “extrinsic force” (the ability to be a “conduit” to the force around you), the latter being what fives and palpatine both have)  

it leads to this situation where fives struggles between feigning his allegiance and not falling to the dark side, while palpatine fully knows this but wants the satisfaction of making someone with a will like fives’ fall under his control. i still need to work out the details, but what maters is that he eventually breaks free from that and reunites with echo, who is still with the bad batch.

following my previous headcanons, the bad batch succeeded in removing their chips and evading the empire. in this new world, in the ruins of the republic, the distinctions between “defective” clones like them and your standard “reg” don’t mater much anymore. but most of all, fives is echo’s brother, who they must have heard so much about. they couldn’t turn him away, but depending on the circumstances they may keep their guard up around fives until their suspicions are quelled.
