AG 102 - Scuffle of legends (part 3) - “Battle of the Ancients”
Finally, we have reached the third and final part of the new Groudon VS Kyogre arc for the new version of the advanced series; AG 102 - Scuffle of legends (part 3) - “Battle of the Ancients”. And this part will be the biggest of the three, and being the final part and conclusion of the “Scuffle of Legends” episode trio, will contain a lot of special moments.
And the plot for this epic “Scuffle of Legends” finale is just below...
Gabby and Ty, while riding on the back of Absol as it heads to where Groudon and Kyogre will battle, notice the light blue sphere of energy that May and Archie are in also heading towards the same location. Using this information, Ty figures out that they're all heading towards a mysterious city known as Sootopolis City. It is also supposed to be the place where Kyogre and Groudon once clashed long ago and will clash once again. Gabby and Ty contact Steven Stone and they report their findings to him. This has the Hoenn Champion worried, as the situation had become worse than he feared. It’s reveal that after Groudon and Kyogre are awakened from the two Seafloor Caverns, they must be heading towards the Cave of Origin to awaken their minds. If the two Legendary Pokémon succeed in awakening their minds, the next thing they'll do is fight. Groudon and Kyogre eventually reach Sootopolis City. Groudon digs through the walls surrounding the city, while Kyogre dives down underwater and enters through an undersea tunnel. As soon as the two see each other, they immediately begin to fight.
Back near Mt. Chimney, Brawly's Hariyama uses Revenge on Tabitha’s Mightyena, knocking it out. Tabitha is angry, but says it matters not, as he and Courtney have done their job at making sure Groudon advances further throughout Hoenn. Tabitha and Cortney return their Pokémon to their Pokéballs and fall back. As Tabitha and Courtney leaves, Roxanne slams her fist on the ground, angry that she and her group of Gym Leaders failed to stop Groudon. Back in Slateport City, Flannery is still fighting Shelly while Winona is still fighting Matt. Even though Flannery’s Pokémon beat Shelly’s Gyarados, Shelly decides that since they managed to keep the Gym Leaders from stopping Kyogre, the battle is over. She and Matt return their Pokémon to their Poké Balls and return to the Team Aqua Submarine and it dives beneath the raging ocean. With Team Aqua gone, Norman calls Steven, that it’s time from plan B... and Wallace, using Roxanne’s communication device, does the same. Steven tells them both to gather the Gym Leaders back to discuss plan B. They agree and they hang up. Once everyone is gathered back at Monsu Island, one of the few places untouched and unaffected by droughts or downpours, Brock tells everyone that Maxie took Ash and Brendan tells everyone that Archie took May. This worries everyone, and Max becomes very worried that his big sister is now in terrible danger, and Caroline and Norman are just as worried as Max. Steven approaches Max, Norman, and Caroline, saying that they’ll find a way to save May and Ash, besides Hoenn. And Keith and Nancy wonder what’s to be done now. Then, behind Steven comes the Hoenn Elite Four: Sidney, Phoebe, Glacia, and Drake. Wallace and everyone else did not expect the Elite Four to be here, since they are mostly at the Pokémon League. Steven admits he needed more people to fight the threat that the Hoenn region faces, hence why the Elite Four came to his mind. Steven explains that part of plan B is to head to three ancient caves scattered across Hoenn. Max sees an ancient slab hidden beneath Steven's white champion cloak, and he asks Steven to see it.
Steven gives the slab to Max who decodes it with a Devon Scope that was given to him by Glacia, revealing that it tells about to awakening three Pokémon that can help stop Groudon and Kyogre—Regirock, Regice, and Registeel. The slab also says that long ago, Groudon and Kyogre once fought at somewhere where the Cave of Origin is located. Wallace immediately recognizes that that place as Sootopolis City. Using the Devon Scope, Max also figures out that in order to awaken Regirock, Regice, and Registeel, they need two Pokémon; Wailord and Relicanth. Keith and Nancy, accompanied by Wattson and Professor Birch, will set off to find these two Pokémon. Meanwhile, the possessed Maxie and Archie drag Ash and May to the site where Groudon and Kyogre are battling; Sootopolis City. Ash and May try getting themselves free from the possessed leaders’ grasps, but to no avail. Gabby and Ty, still riding on Absol, see the light blue sphere of energy that May and Archie are in and the light red sphere of energy with Ash and Maxie in it, and Gabby sees that Ash and May are in terrible danger, so Absol uses Razor Wind, but the attack dos nothing to the spheres of energy.
Near the A-B-C Islands, Keith and Nancy are trying to see if they can find a Wailord and Relicanth near their islands. Huntail and Gorebyss hear something and stop, and what they hear is a Pokémon in distress. Keith and Nancy tell Huntail and Gorebyss to get to the sound, and Wattson and Professor Birch and close behind. When they reach the source of the sound, they find a beached Wailord, who had been beached by the violent waves caused by Kyogre’s rampage. And near Wailord is a Relicanth, who’s still in the water, trying to comfort Wailord. Wattson calls Steven saying that they found a Wailord and Relicanth, but also tells him that said Wailord is beached. Steven says he’s sending Wallace to help, and Steven says that he’s with Sidney, Phoebe, Glacia, and Drake to find the three ancient tombs scattered across Hoenn in order to get ready to awaken Regirock, Regice, and Registeel. Wattson agrees and hangs up. Wallace shows up and brings out all his water Pokémon, who vow to help unbeach Wailord. All the water type Pokémon use Surf and Water Gun to get Wailord back into the sea. After several attempts, they manage to get Wailord back into the water, and Wailord is happy, as is Relicanth. Wailord and Relicanth thank the Pokémon and wonder what they can do to return the favor. Keith and Nancy tell the two that they need their help in awakening the Regi Trio. Wailord and Relicanth agree and begin the process. Back to Steven and the Elite Four, they manage to locate the three tombs, and with the help from Wailord and Relicanth, the tomb doors open, and deep inside, the Regis awaken.
Without hesitation, Regirock, Regice, and Registeel come out of the tombs and Steven and the Elite Four tell the three legendary Pokémon that Groudon and Kyogre have awakened and their brawl could destroy Hoenn if not contained. The Regis agree to help and they make their way to Sootopolis City, with Steven and the Elite Four following close behind. Back in Sootopolis City, Ash tries again to get free from Maxie’s grasp, and May continues to try and get herself free from Archie’s grasp, but both fail. However, from the mountain walls, Ash and May see a rising wall of light and power. They don’t know it, but outside the mountain, Regirock, Regice and, Registeel have arrived and are using Superpower to stop the fight between Groudon and Kyogre from spreading destruction. Steven, riding on his Skarmory, sees the light red sphere of energy hovering above Groudon and the light blue sphere of energy hovering above Kyogre. Ash and May notice Steven and immediately yell for help. Steven’s Skarmory tries to help by using Steel Wing on the light blue sphere of energy containing May and Archie and uses another Steel Wing on the light red sphere of energy containing Ash and Maxie, but the attacks do nothing. The Elite Four arrives, and they praise Regirck, Regice, and Registeel, as they are still standing to suppress the destruction, without marks of exhaustion. However, they also notice about how Groudon and Kyogre never seem to get tired. Drake notes that with the power of Regirock, Regice, and Registeel, the power erupting from the fight between Kyogre and Groudon is being contained. However, Glacia and Phoebe notice that the power continues to increase. So Regirck, Regice, and Registeel use Superpower even more.
The Gym Leaders; Roxanne, Brawly, Wattson, Flannery, Norman, Winona, Tate, Liza, and Wallace are on their way to help, but are once again stopped by Team Magma and Team Aqua as the "Submarine Explorer 1″ and the Team Aqua Submarine surface in the Gym Leaders’ way. The Gym Leaders are angry to see the two teams again, but this time, the Admins don’t attack. The Gym Leaders are confused by the lack of attack, and they question their motives, Courtney and Matt reveal that even though Courtney helped awaken Groudon to increase the land and even though Matt helped awaken Kyogre to increase the sea, the entire thing has gone far beyond what Team Aqua and Team Magma had intended. Because there's no point in anything if Hoenn is destroyed, Courtney considers they and the Gym Leaders should join forces. The Gym Leaders immediately refuse the offer, as Team Magma and Team Aqua are the ones that started this disastrous mess. However, Brock, Max, Professor Birch, Brendan, Keith, Nancy, the Franklin twins, and the ABC Islanders arrive, reminding the Gym Leaders that Ash and May are in serious danger. Knowing that his daughter is in trouble, Norman reluctantly agrees to the offer. As for the other Gym Leaders, they realize that they’re running out of options and time to save Ash, May, and Hoenn. So, they also reluctantly accept the offer.
They all arrive in Sootopolis, and the sight of Team Magma and Team Aqua with the Gym Leaders surprises Steven and the Elite Four, and Wallace tells Steven what Courtney and Matt told him and the other Gym Leaders. And so, Steven Stone, Brock, Brendan, Keith, Nancy, the ABC Islanders, the Franklin twins, Team Magma, Team Aqua, the Gym Leaders, and the Elite Four bring out all their Pokemon to fight Groudon and Kyogre. However, despite their best efforts, Groudon and Kyogre don’t seem stunned, and even Steven’s strongest Pokémon; Metagross, has little to no effect on Groudon and Kyogre. However, what matters is that their efforts are at least delaying the fight between Groudon and Kyogre; therefore preventing the situation from getting much worse and preventing the power from the duel from getting bigger and stronger. Then Steven remembers what his father; Mr. Stone told him back when Steven was a kid. Steven remembers that his father said that the only way to stop Groudon and Kyogre is another Pokémon, able to withstand the two’s power. Before Steven can say anything, a large rock from the collapsing mountain nearly hits Winona’s Skarmory, Max looses balance on Winona’s Skarmory and falls into the raging sea outside Sootopolis. Max cries for help and desperately tries to keep himself from drowning, then the Wailord from earlier lifts Max from the sea, saving him. However, the Wailord seems to recognize Max. Max is a little confused at first, but then he remembers that this Wailord is the very same on that he, Ash, May, and Brock first met back in Slateport after arriving from Dewford Island a while back. Max thanks Wailord for saving him from drowning.
Steven, on his Skrmory, with his Claydol close behind, heads to Max and tells him that he’s given Max a special task, as everyone else is busy with what they’re doing. Max accepts the champion’s offer, but wonders what this task is, and Steven tells Max what his father told him long ago. That being a third ancient Legendary Pokémon that is capable of ending the fight between Groudon and Kyogre: Rayquaza. Steven tells Max that the key to calling Rayquaza should be at Sky Pillar. Wailord offers to take Max there, with Relicanth coming along as company. Wailord, with Max riding atop, swims off to Sky Pillar, as Wailord and Relicanth know the way there. Steven heads back to his position in helping in delaying the power between the fighting Groudon and Kyogre from getting stronger and worse.
With Max on the way to Sky Pillar, Steven sees that Brock, Brendan, Keith, Nancy, the A-B-C Islanders, the Franklin twins, the Gym Leaders, the Elite Four, Team Magma, and Team Aqua are making great progress in delaying the fight between Groudon and Kyogre from getting worse, with the two Legendary Pokémon fighting everyone and not each other. However, it wouldn’t last long as the Pokémon of the Gym Leaders, Team Magma, and Team Aqua are fainting one by one. Back to Max, he has reached Sky Pillar thanks to Wailord and Relicanth. Max thanks the two Pokémon and he immediately gets to the top of Sky Pillar as fast as he can. Half way to the top, he sees through a window that in the distance, the storms and waves are getting bigger and stronger, and he knows that he has to get to the top of Sky Pillar as fast as possible. Back at Sootopolis, half the Pokémon of Brock, Brendan, Keith, Nancy, the A-B-C Islanders, the Franklin twins, the Gym Leaders, the Hoenn Elite Four, Team Magma, and Team Aqua are fainted and Groudon and Kyogre are about to resume their fight with each other. Ash, still held onto by Maxie, says that time is running out and May, still held onto by Archie, says that hope for Hoenn is about to be lost. Back to Max, he finally reaches the top of Sky Pillar, and he sees... a dark green Orb similar in size to the Red Orb and Blue Orb; and this green Orb is called the Jade Orb. Max wonders if this Orb is connected to Rayquaza. Max grabs the Jade Orb and almost instantly, it glows bright green and absorbs into Max’s body through his hands. Max is surprised, and as light green tattoos of Rayquaza appear on his hands, arms, legs, and face, Max begins to understand that he isn’t being possessed by the Jade Orb, which the Reb Orb had done to Maxie and the Blue Orb had done to Archie. After Max’s eyes begin glowing bright green, a light green sphere of energy surrounds Max and he flies up and heads back to Sootopolis, and Wailord and Rilecanth follow behind. Back at Sootopolis, almost all of the Pokémon of Steven, Brock, Brendan, Keith, Nancy, the ABC Islanders, the Franklin twins, the Gym Leaders, the Elite Four, Team Magma, and Team Aqua are fainted, and worse, Groudon and Kyogre have resumed their fight, and the power from said fight is beginning to increase once again.
Suddenly, a light green beam of energy hits Maxie, causing him to finally let go of Ash. Then another light green beam of energy hits Archie, causing him to finally let go of May. Ash hits the ground, but is alright. As May falls, Ash quickly catches her in his arms, causing May to slightly blush. When the possessed Maxie and possessed Archie look up, they see that the light green beams of energy came from Max, in a light green sphere or energy. High above, the storm clouds begin to breakup, catching everyone’s attention, including Groudon, Kyogre, Regirock, Regice, and Registeel. And out from the largest sun-shining gap in the storm comes.... Rayquaza! Steven explains Rayquaza is the third ancient Legendary Pokémon of Hoenn, who roams the skies. Immediately, Rayquaza begins to fight Groudon and Kyogre, leading to a great battle of the Ancients. The possessed Maxie and possessed Archie fly up and fight Max. Regirock, Regice, and Registeel resume their objective of using Superpower to contain the power of the brawling Groudon, Kyogre, and Rayquaza. Steven, Brock, Brendan, Keith, Nancy, the A-B-C Islanders, the Franklin twins, the Gym Leaders, the Elite Four, Team Magma, and Team Aqua return all their Pokémon to their Poké Balls and quickly vacate the area. Ash continues to hold May in his arms as they vacate the area as well. May blushes some more as she’s being held by Ash. As the battle between Groudon, Kyogre, and Rayquaza rages on. All the while, Maxie, Archie, and Max order the three ancient Pokémon to attack.
Rayquaza uses Dragon Claw on Groudon, who fires back with a Solar Beam. Rayquaza dodges the attack and it hits the mountain wall. Kyogre grabs Rayquaza with his mouth and drags him underwater. But Rayquaza quickly hits Kyogre with a Hyper Beam. Kyogre, stunned by the attack, lets go of Rayquaza and he flies out of the water. Groudon hits Rayquaza with a Fire Blast, but Rayquaza reflects it with Dragon Claw and fires back with another Dragon Claw, hitting Groudon. Kyogre flies out of the water and hits Rayquaza with a Body Slam. Rayquaza hits back with Crunch. Groudon and Kyogre both use Hyper Beam on Rayquaza, hitting him... but despite being hit by two Hyper Beams at once, Rayquaza hits Groudon and Kyogre back with his own Hyper Beam. Enraged, Kyogre uses Hydro Pump, but Rayquaza dodges it. Groudon, also enraged, uses Flamethrower, but Rayquaza dodges that too. Rayquaza fires back with a super powerful Hyper Beam, hitting both Groudon and Kyogre.
After that final blow, Rayquaza finally beats Groudon and Kyogre. With Groudon and Kyogre defeated, the light red tattoos of Groudon on Maxie’s hands and face disappear, so does the light red sphere of energy surrounding him as the Red Orb exits his body through his chest … and the light blue tattoos of Kyogre on Archie’s hands, chest, and face disappear, along with the light blue sphere of energy around him as the Blue Orb exits his body. The two leaders fall unconscious and fall, but are both caught by Steven’s Metagross. As for Max, the Jade Orb remains within him as he floats to Rayquaza, thanking him for saving the day. With Groudon and Kyogre defeated, the Elite Four tell Regirock, Regice, and Registeel about it, so the Regi trio stop using Superpower. The unconscious Maxie is given to Team Magma and the unconscious Archie is given to Team Aqua. Courtney checks on Maxie and he wakes up, wondering what happened, which reveals that he has no memory of what happened while being possessed by the Red Orb. Shelly checks on Archie and he wakes up, wondering what happened, revealing that he has no memory of what happened while he was possessed by the Blue Orb.
Max descends to the ground, and when he lands, his light green sphere of energy dims, as do the light green tattoos on his legs, arms, hands, and face, and the green glow in his eyes dims as well, though the Jade Orb remains within Max. May immediately rushes to Max and she hugs him, and with tears of joy, as May is happy and relieved that her little brother is alright and she thanks him for helping in saving the day. Steven, Ash, Brock, Brendan, Keith, Nancy, the A-B-C Islanders, the Franklin twins, Roxanne, Brawly, Wattson, Flannery, Norman, WInona, Tate, Liza, Wallace, Sidney, Phoebe, Glacia, and Drake surround Max, and they congratulate him for his bravery and getting Rayquaza to come and fight Groudon and Kyogre. They also congratulate each other for their help in this crisis. Groudon and Kyogre get back up, but do nothing and look up at Rayquaza, who looks back at them. After a standoff, the three depart, as Groudon heads through the hole in the mountain he made on the way in, heading to Mt. Chimney as his new resting place, Kyogre dives underwater and exits Sootopolis through the same underwater passage he used to enter, and Rayquaza flies back up the sky. Regirock, Regice, and Registeel head back to their chambers to rest. As Groudon, Kyogre, and Rayquaza depart, Maxie, Archie, and the rest of Team Magma and Team Aqua now realize that they cannot control nature to do their biddings.
Later that evening, the droughts and downpours throughout out Hoenn have finally vanished. The flood waters have receded, leaving wrecked cities behind. Steven praises everyone for all their heroic deeds in the crisis. He also says that he, the Hoenn Elite Four, the Gym Leaders (except Tate and Liza), Keith, Nancy, the Franklin twins, and the A-B-C Islanders will help in rebuilding Hoenn and repairing the damages caused by the droughts and downpours. Ash, May, Max, and Brock are happy to hear all this. But Ash and May wonder where the Red Orb and the Blue Orb went after they exited Maxie and Archie. Brendan tells Ash and May that all that matters is that they are no longer being used for evil. Professor Birch agrees with his son, and Max points out that he was not possessed by the Jade Orb, and Steven says that it’s because the Jade Orb is different from the Red Orb and Blue Orb. After Steven explains about the Jade Orb and how it works differently from the Red Orb and Blue Orb, Norman and Caroline hug Max, as they are very proud of him for helping in ending ths crisis. Max thanks his parents and May joins in on the family hug, and Norman and Caroline are very proud their daughter for all her help in the crisis. After the family hug, Roxanne approaches Max, and gives him a special type of Poké Ball: a Dive Ball. The Pokémon inside comes out, and it’s a Poliwag. But not just ANY Poliwag, it’s the very same Poliwag that Max used back at the Trainer School, before Ash challenged Roxanne in a Gym battle. Max is happy to know this, and the Poliwag jumps at Max, happy to see him again. Max grabs Poliwag and happily nuzzles it. Roxanne explains that Poliwag is Roxanne’s gift to Max for his useful help in the crisis. As Max happily accepts Poliwag as his first Pokémon, and May is happy for her little brother. Ash approaches Tate and Liza, wanting to know if they know the Gym leader of Mossdeep City. Everyone looks out at Sootopolis, or what’s left of it. Wallace says he’ll lead the reconstruction of Sootopolis. With the crisis finally over, Ash and his friends can finally resume their journey. But the whereabouts of the Red Orb and the Blue Orb remains a mystery for our heroes.
And so, that’s the third and final “Scuffle of Legends” episode in this trio. I hope you all enjoy reading this and the other two parts of this new and improved Groudon VS Kyogre arc for the new version of the advanced series. Honestly, these three episodes were a bit of a challenge to think of, but I knew that it would be all worth it, and it was. Also, AG 100 - Scuffle of legends (part 1) - “Droughts and Downpours”, AG 101 - Scuffle of legends (part 2) - “Groudon and Kyogre”, and AG 102 - Scuffle of legends (part 3) - “Battle of the Ancients” were quite fun to think about. And yes, I’ll create some posts going over several little treats in this episode trio soon, so stay tuned. ^^
