20. What-ifs/Alternate Timelines 

I still want a Moana show where at some point she and Maui are trying to find the season’s bad guy and on the way they find Tamatoa shrunk by the same guy and they all have to work together.

Or maybe some kind of crossover with Sebastian, Zazu, and Iago. he’d have to be shrunk for that too, but it would be cute.

So I hear everybody contemplating a Ripekanga sequel so I’mma just drop this here.

Tuahangata woke slowly, groggily, face down and head pounding. He could tell something was off, but he couldn’t wrap his mind around what was so wrong.

That was, until a heavy weight landed in the small of his back and a broad hand wrapped around his mouth and nose.

“Took you long enough,” murmured a voice in a casual, offhand manner. But, oh, there was nothing casual about the thrill of alarm that shot up his spine at how frightfully familiar that voice was.

Before he could struggle, Maui pinned one hand beneath his other knee, and trapped Tua’s other wrist in a stony grip, pulling slightly back and stressing the joint of his shoulder.

“I had this whole big speech planned out,” Maui continued, as Tuahangata tried to thrash, to cry out. Why couldn’t he budge Maui? His eyes darted around; they were inside the lair, up on one of the spiral shelves. Tamatoa was sleeping right below them.

And there… there was a girl walking in!

“But now…” Maui continued, but trailed off. Tua could feel the other demigod shrug above him, especially as it sent a jolt of pain through his shoulder.

The girl below had seen Maui’s fishhook atop Tamatoa’s shell… but, he realized, she didn’t see Tamatoa, the crab disguised beneath his layer of gold. He tried to yell, to scream, but he couldn’t even breathe with Maui over him like this. Couldn’t move. Something, beyond the obvious, was very wrong. Icy fear crept through him.

“They’ll never hear us; I made sure of that. Not so long as I hold you here.” Maui paused a beat.

“So you changed sides, did you? No more ‘humans come first,’ just a dirty little monster lover now? What about now, when you’re about to watch the consequences of that, hmm?”

Tuahangata barely heard the other demigod, fear for the girl drowning out any fear he held for himself. She was alone, unprotected, and she was walking right up to a known human-eating monster.

“But you’re not a hero of men anymore, so I guess it doesn’t matter, does it?” Maui continued. “We’ll just sit up here and watch. I’m sure Tama will be glad for the snack I brought him.”

Tuahangata jerked again, trying to throw the other demigod off… but he couldn’t. He tried, failed, and watched with growing, sickly horror.
