Here's some Oumasai- so you should go enter the @oumasaiexchange which sign ups ends on the 22nd of this month.
jaedeite replied to your post “On second thought instead of me being salty, guys reblog this post and...”
Because their dynamic makes the most sense. Unlike Momota after chp 5 says he STILL hates Ouma, has punched Ouma due to minor disagreements, and has shown to be homophobic in translation and og japanese. Putting Ouma together with Momota is gross when Ouma is gay coded. Saihara on the other hand has shown interest in boys. He makes an attempt to understand Ouma. Even after Ouma's shenanigans (chp 3 prank and 5 BS) Saihara still wants to understand Ouma despite it.
Saihara and Ouma would help each other grow. Saihara at a point hates lies and Ouma could show him they're not all bad, while Saihara could teach Ouma to open up and be honest to himself, to learn to trust. Saihara plays along with Ouma's games. Momota doesn't, he gets angry and insultive, taking personal offense. Ouma also finds Saihara as someone he can't predict compared to the rest of the cast. Putting tricky on the whiteboard in og Japanese instead og trustworthy.
Whoa there friendo I think you need to stop.
First of all, this post was made to promote positivity and to express love for a ship, not to be used to shit on another character that, news flash, OP really likes. Yeah, I love Kaito to death. I love Shuichi, Kokichi, and Kaito. I ship Oumasai, Oumota, Saimota, and Saioumota.
So yeah. I’m a little more than annoyed by this.
I’m going to be the one to break it to you--this is why you shouldn’t trust fantranslations over canon translations. Kaito’s got a serious foot-in-mouth syndrome, but he’s not homophobic and the one line where he was previously fantranslated to be homophobic was mistranslated. He was actually expressing upset that Shuichi hadn’t previously told Kaito that he “swung that way” and was upset at the lack of communication between them, not upset over Shuichi expressing interest in other men. Which makes sense for Kaito’s character, because he expresses in his FTEs that communication is the single most important thing to have as an astronaut, and as an ultimate, he would fundamentally believe that communication is important in any situation.
The canon translation got this right. Fantranslators are nice to have when there’s no professional company translating, but there is.
Another debunker for “Kaito is homophobic” is the fact that literally in Kaito’s LSE he sees Shuichi as a male love interest/rival, so there’s that. He also seems to have acknowledged it too, wanting to “win their final race” in order to confess his feelings.
Kaito doesn’t hate Kokichi. He says he does, but that’s probably stemming from the hatred of miscommunication, which Kokichi is a big ball of never ending miscommunication. Again, Kaito has a bad case of foot-in-mouth syndrome, so he probably means that he is still very frustrated with Kokichi as a whole but simplifies it to “Hating his guts.”
Kaito and Kokichi push each other’s buttons and are intense, physical rivals. Like how I expressed that Shuichi and Kokichi were a softer intellectual rivalry, Kaito and Kokichi share a far more intense, passionate rivalry. They both challenge each other in physical, emotional, and mental ways that can’t be match by any other dynamic. Oumota is messy, but it’s also the best for both of these characters when it comes to tearing down walls, being exposed, and being okay with that exposure.
And don’t be so sure Shuichi actually wants to understand Kokichi beyond chapter 4. In fact, that’s quite the opposite--after Kokichi has his outburst and starts mocking Gonta long before his blood has even dried, Shuichi decides to cut off Kokichi and isolate him like the rest of the class does. Which is entirely valid, Kokichi was acting like a god damn lunatic, but Shuichi still was absolutely done with Kokichi by the end of Chapter 4.
Where as Kaito, on the other hand, actually started to realize Kokichi might be more than the evil facade, and trusts him enough to take the electrohammers and try to Death Road of Despair again. It’s Kaito who believes in Kokichi enough to use them, not Shuichi, not anyone else. Everyone else wanted to just leave them alone and not use them at all. Everyone else suspected Kokichi was trying to make them murder someone again for their entertainment. Not Kaito, though. Kaito understood that Kokichi, like Gonta, had seen something that made him lost his mind, and tried to lowkey believe in his intentions. Too little, too late, but Kaito was the only one in chapter 5 that made an attempt (aside from Keebo who tried to resolve things peacefully after Kaito was kidnapped, but Keebo is always a good like that)
Another problem with your reply here is that you say that Kaito doesn’t play Kokichi’s games when Shuichi does--do you not realize that Kaito and Kokichi play very different games than Kokichi and Shuichi? I’ll repeat myself again, Kokichi and Shuichi are softer, intellectual rivals where Kaito and Kokichi are Physical rivals. Kokichi baiting Kaito into chasing him, and Kaito giving chase, is them playing a game. We know that it is a game because Kokichi is always baiting people into chasing him--he baits Kaede, Shuichi in his LSE, and Kaito. He loves being chased. He loves playing a game of chase. Him baiting Kaito into chasing him is them playing a physical game.
Kokichi and Kaito insult each other, but like how Kokichi and Miu insult each other, it’s just part of how their relationship goes and they don’t actually have to mean what they say. They are the more traditional kind of rival so they’re going to be poking, prodding, and baiting each other.
By the end of Kokichi’s life, Kokichi also acknowledges Kaito in one of the highest regards he can--by calling him “Not boring,” which seems to be extremely high praise for Kokichi to tell someone.
Anyway, I’m going to ask you that you refrain from making these kinds of comments on positivity posts. No one wants to see you put down a ship or character to promote your favorites. This post was strictly for positivity. Negativity such as this has no place on it.
Please remember that next time.
