So it’s understandable that they’re highly critical of “maverick” pilots with questionable way of fighting that might put other people’s lives in danger as they want to minimize casualties as much as possible.

While Yuya and Raleigh had to think on their feet and react instinctively to kill the alien/kaiju by any means necessary, as they do not have time to evaluate their surroundings and situations during the chaotic battle and a slow response might change everything. So they’re both right as they have the right intentions.
