Noticed something, now I am rotating this in my brain.

Now, if we look to the wall to the side of Richard:

So I didn't take a screenshot of it, but the scores are, of course, not there when that Anna segment of the game starts.

This shows us that life goes on, even while Anna's in the past. Details from other games imply that James and Dorian can remember things from the timelines that Anna undoes.

And then, of course, there is this scene from Detectives United: Timeless Voyage.

...So. It's shown in a moment, during the next minigame, that the bomb is close to blowing up.

Add to that the fact that time continues to progress while Anna is in the past, and the fact that James and Dorian may or may not remember the other timelines...

There is 100% a timeline where Dorian and James get blown up by the bomb, and given the laws of the world there is a distinct possibility that they remember blowing up.

Car rides, questions, and stories

Dorian is sitting in the back of a car. Usually he's content with the size of the thing, but right now it feels too small and too large all at once. Trees pass by the window. They're going by quite fast. He thinks James is driving, but it might be Anna. Dorian watches the trees go past. He feels... empty. Usually he feels SOMETHING after a case. Then again, usually the cases aren't so personal. He looks up, sees his face in the rearview mirror. What he sees is just a mask, the way he chose to conceal his secret. He looks down. Mortimer wore the same outfit, just differently colored. He doesn't know what to think about Mortimer. The venom in his voice when he told Dorian to leave. That wasn't the Mortimer he used to know. That Mortimer was dead. That Mortimer had been killed by their father.

James and Anna are talking to him. Question after question is sent his way. He hears them, but doesn't answer. He can't force the words from his mouth. Instead the questions about Mortimer and about what happened in his youth hang in the air, unanswered. He loves James and Anna, he really does. They're like the family he chose for himself. And so he teases James like an older brother would, and politely helps Anna with small things like any younger brother should.

He knows all this. It impacted all his choices in Restville. He knows they care about him, know that the questions come from a place of concern. They're just too much, especially right now. He curls his fingers tighter against the seatbelt, just to do something with his hands. Anna's voice silents. James is telling her that they really shouldn't be asking this many questions this soon after something so personal.

And it's the twinge of pain in his voice that makes Dorian realize. James knows what it's like. He's been the one in this position. Never for Dorian to see, but before. He's had times, struggling to process events, where questions won't leave him alone.

It takes Dorian a moment to realize that James is still talking. But instead of asking questions, he's telling a story. It's a story that James has told them more than once, but Dorian doesn't mind. He realizes something. The story is James' way of saying that he's here. That he's going to be at Dorian's side for as long as he's wanted. Anna chimes into the story occasionally, her own way of showing that she isn't leaving either. Dorian closes his eyes and listens to them talk. He might still have problems to sort out, emotions and family drama, but at least he'll have support from people who love him.
