My Favourite Things 1

Thomas puts the John Coltrane vinyl into the player. James perks up at the opening of the song. Thomas begins to hum the tune as he goes about making food. James is in a blanket burrito in bed and wants to get out of the bed, but he also wants to drown in his own phlem so..... Thomas starts to sing along to the jazz song “I simply remember my favourite things-” 

“And then I don’t feel so bad.” James croaks out from under his pile of blankets.

Thomas approaches him. The blankets are shifted and James can see Thomas’ face. Thomas places a cool hand on him. He moans into the touch. Then the hand is gone. James pouts inside his blanket cocoon.There is the cluttering of utensils as Thomas makes him food. 

Thomas then return to James with a warm bowl. 

“Chicken soup?” James questions.

“No,” Thomas says with a smile. “Bone marrow soup. My aunt used to make this for me when I was sick.”

“BONE MARROW SOUP?!” James croaks loudly.

“Yup.” Thomas then takes a spoonful of soup, blows on it and then moves the spoon towards James’ mouth. James doesn’t trust the bone marrow soup, but Thomas made it so.........he’ll give it a shot. He takes the spoonful of soup offered. “It tastes good?????” He wheezes in shock. Thomas laughs at him. “Why wouldn’t it taste good?” James opens his mouth expectantly for another spoonful.

In five minutes he’s eaten all the soup. He grins happily at Thomas, who smiles back at him. Thomas then gets up to pick a book from the library in the bedroom. He returns with the book and nestles as close to James as he can with all the blankets wrapped around James. Thomas then starts to read to him.

James closes his eyes and lets Thomas’ voice and the jazz music playing lull him back to sleep.

James Flint: The plantation was actually plan C. Back in London was plan B, and plan A was marrying him a long, long time ago. Pretty much the day I met him.

Since the Black Sails finale, I’ve seen James and Thomas hug and kiss in bazillion pics and gifs. The same scene over and over again. I am forced to see it on my dash at least once every few hours.

This is not a complaint. I love it. Keep up the good work.

Thomas smiling whenever James surprises him though... like when James took his question about stabilising Nassau seriously and gave it some thought or when he stood up to defend him or when he showed off his wit and intelligence or okay fine . Thomas smiling because of James slays me.

he just smiles at James like:

“wow he actually answered my question properly…. i’m gonna rewarddistract him with how cute i am” ok Thomas nO WAIT

and then:

he just??? smiles with tears in his eyes because wtf James actually defended him and put his own career on the line???? i’m????

and ofc how can we ever forget this smile:
