Well right now it's Arthur Morgan and Charles Smith in RDR2, since I'm doing a new playthrough (57% completion in chapter 3 babyyyy). So I'll do both.
First impression: Arthur: I was really nervous to play for the first time, I knew next to nothing about the game. But as soon as I saw Arthur during that very first cut scene, I liked him immediately. He looked cool and had kind eyes. Charles: I liked Charles from the beginning, he had a respect for animals and life, and I loved that about him. During The Aftermath of Genesis, I listened to everything he had to say about the archery mechanics in the game. I love him so much.
Impression now: Arthur: After spending hundred of hours with this character, my impression of him is of someone who was lost and then found, someone who had his trust betrayed again and again, who had to finally break away and forge his own path, and save his family. Charles: He's a man who's been shaped by what's happened around him. His mother being stolen, his father becoming an abusive alcoholic, leaving home to survive in the wild, that all lead him to the Van Der Linde gang, and to Arthur. He's softspoken, but still a killer, and you can't forget that. He holds respect for the people who deserve it. He's a really cool character.
Favourite moment: Arthur: The small camp interactions, him singing while riding, and his journal. Charles: Him blasting the shit out of the bison poachers.
Idea for a story: Ship stuff mainly. Charles caring for Arthur after Blessed are the Peacemakers.
Unpopular opinion: This is a ship thing, so it's for both of them. I don't like how people describe Charles as big and dominant, he's a smidge shorter than Arthur. And it just feeds into racist stereotypes of the "large and intimidating black man". Also portraying Arthur as a small submissive "uwu bean", that's just not how he acts.
Favourite relationship: Obviously Charthur! They're adorable. I was replaying a mission yesterday and greeted Charles, he said "It's been a while" and shot a two finger salute at Arthur. I had to pause and take a second. In all honestly, those two have great chemistry.
Favourite headcanon: Arthur: Treats Tilly as a little sister, and she treats him as an older brother. Absolutely love this HC. He would sneak little treats to the horses in the gang when he was younger. He still does it sometimes. Charles: Carves little wooden animals for Jack. He also made a buck for Arthur.
